Atari in the USA 2002
Del McCool arrives on
board the MyAtari train
I felt since this magazine
is on-line and very international in flavor I would
try and cover events and happenings from the birthplace
(USA) of our favorite computer and video gaming system. This
magazine is a great way to communicate to Atari users
all over the world, and a place to get information,
and can be an information supplement to user groups
and chat lines.
The one thing I have
always enjoyed about Atari users is no matter where
they live, they put their love for Atari ahead of any
regional differences. The internet, the world's true
melting pot, has helped keep all Atari users connected.
This being said, a person in Germany might be sending
data files to a new friend in the UK or the US, while
a person in New Zealand may be chatting on-line about
Atari with someone in the Netherlands. In the 1990s
Atari was by far stronger in Europe than the US, and
still has a well known core group in Europe.
This month I want to
point out that there are several Atari web sites, covering
everything like Atari History, hardware, software, upgrades
and general Atari information. I really enjoy the ones
that have new hardware devices, like adding an IDE hard
drive to your 520ST or your 130XE. Things that Ataris
weren't built to do back in the 1980s. Each month
I'd like to cover these different Atari "add-ons"
that are out there around the world, or unique ways
the Atari is still being used in a world full of Windows
PCs and Macintosh systems. Please send me links and
data to these special things that are out there, so
all Atari users can see them.
There is also an Atari
Euro chat line that meets twice a week. Log on and join
the other users. The topics cover anything Atari related.
Look forward to seeing you on the chat line and in next
month's issue.
