The Notator SL user-group

Hallvard Tangeraas reveals all...

Notator SL and Creator SL from C-Lab software (now Emagic) were once upon a time (mid 80s to early 90s) some of the most powerful MIDI sequencing software packages around, on any computer platform.

These days computers do digital audio and video in addition to MIDI, and an Atari ST might seem like something best suited for gathering dust at the attic -not so! The Atari ST still rocks with its built-in MIDI ports, once so popular among musicians. Stability, rock-steady MIDI timing, ease of use (and nowadays: very low cost) makes it a computer which is still attractive for those who know better.

Even though Emagic has long since left the Atari platform and now concentrate on the more profit-making Macintosh and PC markets there are many Notator/Creator users around who still see the value of these programs and that they're still more than usable in the 21st century. As a Notator user myself I created the mailing list so that people could get together and support each other when official support has ceased, hoping to bring new life into the use of these programs. At the time this is being written, the list has around 140 members from all over the world -new members are always welcome! List membership is free, but since we now have a registered domain (in order to stop moving from one free web location to another as we've done quite a few times already), optional monetary donations from members is relied on to keep it alive.

So far the support has been very good considering how hard and unpopular asking for such support is. The web site contains a comprehensive FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions), file-downloads, member contributions, links to other sites and soon it will also be possible to search through the complete list-archive.
