Re: Hissing and whistling in the STe audio output

I haven't tried any fix yet because I don't have the required hardware. But here is a useful tool for sound analysis. Audacity has a nice spectral analysis view, but it is hidden. See picture. I have loaded the file ste-left.wav I posted there . In the top left of the window, there is actually a men...

Re: Hissing and whistling in the STe audio output

Here is the abominable sound of the left channel of my STe (right channel is not much better). This is the sound just after reset, and booting the Faith demo. Typical example of floppy loading. I have quickly recorded the left speaker, then normalized the wave. This is exactly what I hear when I tur...

Re: Hissing and whistling in the STe audio output

When the floppy drive pulls more power from the 5V rail, it affects the way the noise is generated and routed across the board. Floppy drive has a motor which will couple noise back to the 5V for example also. On my STe, Floppy activity can definitely be heard in the speakers. However, I don't know...

Re: Hissing and whistling in the STe audio output

I have been suffering from the same issue since the beginning on my STe. I would really be interested to know if there could be a fix for this annoying noise.
NB: STe cinch output suffers of that noise (differently beween L and R), mono output in the monitor port is better.

Re: The Tiniest, Minimalist 68K system sort of?

Nice device !
I can't find how much RAM is embedded. But if you add at least 256 KB of RAM, you could run a custom EmuTOS on it :)
