Re: Isn't this the most frequently asked question?

I mean, I'm pretty new and I read through the entire TF536 forum (It's only about 4-5 pages deep worth of posts) before I even joined here. All the information you need is available here and if you're still confused about it, my advice would be to keep reading and researching before you decide if yo...

Re: Cpld rework / removal

I just wanted to provide a quick update on this thread in case anyone else runs into similar issues. I pulled out the TF536 and tried booting diagrom with a 68000 in the relocator. Doing this, I got a different result and diagrom wouldn't boot at all (seemed like it may have been outputting somethin...

Re: Latest TF536 Firmware?

It appears the website that had the Pi flash instructions has been removed. Can anyone GUIDE me in the direction to obtain these instructions (pun intended). I can try to put something together for this over the weekend. I don't remember what packages I had to install, but I can provide the pinouts...

Re: Cpld rework / removal

A cheap pre-heater is certainly the way to go, once you have used one you will probably wonder why have I not ever purchased one previously. Makes CPLD removal a simply process. The unit I use only cost the price of 2 CPLDs, and has probably saved me purchasing a lot more replacements than that. :)...

Re: Cpld rework / removal

Yeah I don't have a preheater, so I just preheat the board using the hot air at a distance for a little while. I managed to get it off but it did take quite a while even at 300C, probably a little over a minute. Hopefully it's still good. I'm not really seeing anything that looks suspect, aside from...

Re: Cpld rework / removal

Thanks PhilC , I'm also using leaded 63/37, just wasn't sure if it would be safe to use 280/300C with the hot air station. I'll give it a go then! I'm thinking the same re: loose or bridged pins. Visual inspection looks good and I did go around with a multimeter to check for bridges, and also re-flo...

Cpld rework / removal

How are you all removing the Cpld? I have one board that's being problematic and I want to pull the Cpld to make sure there's no solder or leftover flux in the wrong place underneath the IC. I read the data sheet and it states the max. soldering temp is only 220C. I've never used hot air set to that...

Re: TF536 doesn't _quite_ boot

My only other machine is an A1200... If you can not find anyone in your local area to test the card on a 500/2000, I will help you out, only problem is you will need to post it to Queensland, I have built a few 536's successfully, and have a few 500s and 2000s lying about that can be used to test t...

Re: TF536 doesn't _quite_ boot

Looks like I am confirmed as some kind of idiot. RAM came off with a heat gun, did not appear damaged, everything looks perfect but now no boot, nothing from serial. I guess the cheapest thing to try is buy more RAM. On the upside, a brief check with a slower 68030 shows no change so it is perhaps ...

Your RAM IC's are installed upside down!
