Re: Sporniket's log on hardware stuff

Electronic load project, I finally got the PCBs, I will be able to train my SMD soldering skill, as well as my wire bodging skill...

Re: Machined pin header orientation

I would use the thiner pins (bumpy, conical side) on the motherboard, because they would slide more easily for installing/desinstalling. The bolder pins (flatened, cylindrical side) would slide less easily (e.g. 0.6 is the default diameter for via in kicad IIRC), so would have a better grip on the e...

Re: Help needed urgently!

Hi, you may also have a look at my conversion of the STE schematic https://www.exxoshost.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=4584 The kicad project is standalone (all custom libraries & footprint included), and there is an approximative PCB reconstruction (a given trace is going through the same way po...

Re: DFB1r4 design discussion thread

Hi, I am a bit of a noob here, but is there a datasheet of the DSP with more or less accurate/exact timing diagrams and all ? I am aware that datasheets are not The Book of Absolute Truth, but maybe some statements on the protocol expected by the DSP would help, especially when it confirms what happ...

Re: Help needed urgently!

I looked at the board through a magnifier after desoldering and I could only see that one break which was obvious. I would advise to buy one of those entry level "USB microscope" that can do 40x~1000x, like this one https://www.amazon.fr/Microscope-num%C3%A9rique-Endoscope-grossissement-Bysameyee/d...

Re: WANTED: Booster board for STE

one problem at a time. I expect nobody will achieve another motherboard reconstruction of any legacy format (à la re-amiga of chucky IIRC or your H5) before long (but someone can prove me wrong). You will surely have plenty of time to get your pink case fully 3D printed from Icky IIRC. As for me I w...

Re: WANTED: Booster board for STE

I want one to replace my Mega ST4's motherboard, I want one to replace my Mega STe's motherboard, and (of course!) I want one to replace my beloved STacy's motherboard! :) Darklord has a point, with Mega ST motherboards being so crappy and causing all sorts of issues with upgrade, an H5 in Mega ST ...

Re: Well this is interesting....

@mrbombermillzy, to me, until legally proven wrong, it is just a "smoke and mirrors" type of move to stiffle the momentum toward a legal right to repair, that would force Apple (among others) to substancially unlock their hardware.

edit : phrasing.

Re: DFB1r4 design discussion thread

Driven by despair, if there is enough remaining space and pins in your CPLD, I would remove the GAL, reimplement it in the CPLD and wire the signals somehow.
