Re: kodak80 progress

Spent time today unsoldering the jumpers and re-fitting the Blitter on board 1 so I now have the Blitter chip working on board 1 as well now. :D

Looks like the faulty YM2149 chip was also the cause for the black screen when I enabled the Blitter chip.

Re: Video driver thoughts

The STV8438CV chip does seem to be very hard to find with Google and non-existent on Mouser.

Will give that a try with some IPA and see if I can get the floppy to work.

Just need to get Yaart onto a floppy as well.
Not sure if you saw, my post on fixing my floppy issue with board #1. It was a faulty YM2149 chip. When I replaced it, the floppy was recognised and worked fine.

Re: kodak80 progress

Good news. :D Board number 1 has a faulty YM2149 chip which was what was stopping the floppy drive being seen. We did some diagnosing yesterday and found that chip was faulty by swapping them between my boards. We also checked board 1 to make sure that there was nothing bad with the soldering and co...

Re: kodak80 progress

Small update, Board #1 is now alive again after re-soldering the NO BLITTER jumpers and removing the Bliiter chip. So it is back to booting TOS but not seeing the floppy. I have also tried re-soldering the WD1772 but this did not help. I tried removing the NO BLITTER jumper solder a 2nd time and got...

Re: kodak80 progress

Board 1 continues to be a problem child. It now has a blitter fitted but it now shows a long row of bombs on a white screen. Will need to find some time to diagnose and may put this board on-hold for now as I am very busy at work. Board 2 (my fully working board) now has a working blitter. :D IMG_20...

Re: kodak80 progress

Have not had time to work on my two boards recently so no real change for me except that I now have the extra 3M PLCC sockets and 2 blitter chips from Best arrived today. Will see if I can spend time this weekend to get these fitted. :)
