I went for the cheapest 3.3V one which would work. No use going for a larger more expensive device.
I actually know so little about FPGAs... That's the cheapest one I've ever seen! Well outside silly devices without about 20 LEs that hardly seem worth the effort.

Re: BLITTER RE-CREATION THOUGHTS

You couldn't get it to work on the Cyclone-II? The EP2C5s I used for the shifter are only $25 each, and they should have way more LEs and pins than you need, and they're not BGA. Although they are fairly large.

I don't know what those pads are for either, but I can tell you that the left side is connected directly to the data bus. That's where I installed my SIMM socket.

Re: When is a ST not a ST anymore ?

I'm a lot more comfortable with real silicon parts, including FPGAs, than I am with "software solutions" running on some secondary computer device.

That said, I've got a thing translating the mouse protocol that is more powerful than the ST CPU, so my moral code is on very shaky ground.

Re: Parts suppliers

For us antepodians: http://www.x-on.com.au/ (a Farnell knock-off in Perth with the most amazingly bad website, but you can save on postage) http://www.altronics.com.au/ (I think they ship from Perth too) http://www.taydaelectronics.com/ (Thailand) http://futurlec.com/ (Thailand) X-ON is the only one...

Re: 2600 software programmers ?

Way over my head. Any graphics programming on the 2600 is programming in "hard mode".

Re: Project: HDMI/DVI out for STFM

No *new* news, but just so you know I'm still alive, I've done a new run of prototype boards with a connection for vsync, and that's working fine.

That looks good - when you move the cursor around, do you get de-interlacing artifacts like on the Gonbes upscalers?

How about attacking stupid people, now that would seriously benefit mankind!
Attacking smokers would also help with the litter problem!
