Re: Ethernec drivers & NetUSBee on TT: I think I see the problem.

... I see. Basically using a hardware bug/feature to get something working. :-) Not exactly. Cartridge port is designed to be read only. Any write command to it's address area will cause bus error. But devices like this must write some parameters out. I designed some 30 years ago EPROM programmer f...

Re: Ethernec drivers & NetUSBee on TT: I think I see the problem.

'Write by reading' is necessary in case of Atari cartridge port. Which normally allows not write. So, some tricks are used to make possible write. For instance reading some area will write part of address as data.

Re: Doing game hard disk adaptation

I looked it better. DL-ed STX image from Atarimania - and it is different/later version of game, what just runs faster.
Flicker fix. is not activated on ST(E), right.
But will add it to new release, as later version flickers too on faster CPU clock.

Re: Has anyone thought of recreating the Milan

Honestly, I don't see that many people will be interested in recreating some rare computer. What has small SW base too, I guess.
As may see, even recreating ST is pretty much problematic.

Re: Hard disk driver update plan

Updates which allow 1GB partitions and lower RAM usage are in biggest part in TOS, and only smaller part in hard disk driver. Actually, it works fine with my very old DOS partition compatible driver, what needs program BigDOS, just now without it, what means faster work, less RAM usage and better co...

Re: Doing game hard disk adaptation

I have original disk of Virus, and adaptation is based on it. Copy protection was really simple, and I played it pretty much at time (around 1988) . What causes slower rotation of ship at start is added flicker remover, and that's noticeable especially on TT. The goal is to have normal screen genera...

Re: When is a ST not a ST anymore ?

This is just a matter of how you look on things. Simple case: is STE a ST ? The right answer can be: is, and not. Little better is looking it from compatibility side, and than you may see that STE is very-very compatible. But not 100% . And if you look that even more deep, will see that incompatibil...

TOS FAT 16 filesystem improving progress

http://atari.8bitchip.info/tos105.html I'm thinking about selling programmed TOS chips with this. Preferable is quad TOS in 29F004 or similar chips (4 Mbits, so 512KB per chip), so can have 4 different TOS versions switchable. There is need for more work on supporting SW - partitioner, driver. And ...
