Re: no-software internal RTC

I traced it down, and looked in literature - ProfiBuch has all needed except TOS code . So, time, date goes to, comes from IKBD chip in packed BCD format. Every value is 1 byte - year, month, day, hours, minutes, secs. - total 6 bytes. And that means too, that max year span is 100 years - 0 to 99 . ...

Re: TOS after 32 years - what could be done better ?

And something really hard to understand and trace: storing year in IKBD chip, and how it is handled. I seen this problem 10 years ago, and made little program what overrides it somehow. That works not well in TOS 2.06, as I seen it today, probably because TOS code for reading IKBD date is little dif...

Re: no-software internal RTC

I've done some research. Keyboard communicates with ST using a simple async serial protocol with baud rate of 7812 bps. Single bytes are being sent one by one with a pause of 4.5ms between each. Setting a clock is done by sending 0x1B followed by YY MM DD hh mm ss. Date is sent as hex, so for month...

Re: NEC Multisync LCD

I looked about those NEC monitors couple years ago in Hungary. Very rare here. Found only 1, not close. And they asked too much for. What is btw. bad habbit here, in second hand shops too - some complete average, 17 inch, about 10 years old LCD costs 25-30 Euros. So, that NEC would cost me about 100...

Re: Game recommendations please

I will try to list here some games which are considered as better on ST than on Amiga, or no Amiga v. Not in some particular order, but one surely stands out: Potsworth & Co. http://atari.8bitchip.info/ASTGA/P/potswco.php 6 games in one, good scroll ... Re: S-Video/composite board for Atari STs -- great for STFs

Stupid question, but what kind of cable to you use from the converter to your LCD. My LCD only has VGA, hdmi, and dvi. Also, is the cable from the atari to the converter custom. This adapter is not good for LCD monitors, only for older analog TVs and non-VGA monitors without RGB input. So, I guess ...

Re: List of planned upgrades.. Plus recasing....

I think AlanH was the one who mention this on AF. He said he surprised it worked, I never looked into it myself, just saying what was said there last year or so. Yep. Details are what is important here. I usually don't like to base something on what I saw somewhere. Maybe I just don't remember it w...

Re: List of planned upgrades.. Plus recasing....

TOS 1.04 is for address area $FC0000-$FEFFFF, while 1.06 , 1.62, 2.06 are for $E00000-$E3FFFF . So, no way that you put unmodded 1.04 in STE and it works. And you must perform some initializations of STE specific chips, otherwise may just freeze. I can test my improved 1.04 in Mega STE, but it's rea...

Re: List of planned upgrades.. Plus recasing....

Lot of ideas, what is nice, but you need to be aware that your STE is now very old, and packing lot of it on it may be too much for old machine. It it is really an STE, then it is not TOS 1.04 what you have but 1.06 or 1.62 . TOS switch is trivial thing. Harder part is content of TOS ROMs. 1.44 MB f...
