Didn't even know yahoo groups was even still going. I don't know of anyone who runs any groups. I run the old atarimusic site, but thats on its way to being taken down.

Re: Using an RA8876 (LCD controller) as a Hi-res graphics card?

nice, we can use then the BLiTTER to copy data to the data register.
I have one concern about the price:
https://www.buydisplay.com/default/seri ... 76-for-due
$68 only for that module and probably should be added/buy an interface between ST and that module

Everything will have to go through the registers of the RA8876, but then high level drawing operations can be implemented using only a few writes.
what about bitmap graphics? is it possible to push it somehow to the RA8876 RAM? and how fast?

Re: BLITTER RE-CREATION THOUGHTS

But the bus access is still being synced to 8MHz... you can't run the suska core at 32MHz as is screws up the 8MHz bus access... So it would need 2 clocks to work just to clarify, the BLiTTER is clocked with 8Mhz but the bus is 4MHz, but only every other cycle is granted. It means that we have 4 cyc...

Re: BLITTER RE-CREATION THOUGHTS

It seems either the BLiTTER's bus mastering isn't ok or the BLiTTER starts too early or too late, after being triggered by thu CPU. Or both cases are true. Very interesting thanks.. I did wonder if there was something up with the bus mastering, but I did not look into it yet, but I will do now. jus...

Re: BLITTER RE-CREATION THOUGHTS

I'm putting the speed loss down to the fpga code itself. I just think a software core isn't going to be able to replicate the timing of a pure logic blitter. I mean, sure it can emulate the blitter, but its not cycle accurate and i doubt it ever can be. Not with a software core anyway. We would hav...

Re: BLITTER RE-CREATION THOUGHTS

Many thanks Icky, I'm on vacations now, therefore, therefore I'll post a short note now. This evening will try to investigate that more Tests 1st ,2nd and 4th base on the BLiTTER's copy: the Halftone Registers to the SHIFTER Color Registers. I see this mode doesn't work as expected, therefore I'm no...

Re: BLITTER RE-CREATION THOUGHTS

Icky, great progress. I have an idea why figures could differ between FPGA and real BLiTTER. In short important factors are: 1) how fast the BLiTTER takes and release the bus; 2) how it interacts with the CPU in blit (non HOG) mode. May I ask you to do four tests from attached ZIP? They should be ru...
