Re: Maximum 520STfm TOS version Etc

It currently has a Mitsumi Elec PSU in it The big black capacitor with the big red warning on it is curved at the top, i dunno if that's by design, but there's no stress or bulge looking damage (include a picture). It is kompletely normal, there is a plastic hemispherical cap ot top of this capacit...

Re: Trudie - The Next IDE Board

WinCUPL has a huge memory leaks, in my case the first symptom of this is that syntax highlighting crashes when I use the editor... it also produces unpredictable output files (part of the code may be missing), after working in GUI/Editor for a while. I have used it only a few times... but more or le...

Re: Trudie - The Next IDE Board

So I guess the ancient WinCUPL? If so, then my hint is - when you finish writing code, save it and close WinCUPL, then start it again, load your project, don't touch it, and then compile it. You can also use a Prochip Designer, for writing and compiling CUPL code for ATF15xx. Third option is to gene...

Re: BLiTTER in short 520ST

I think I've seen such mod once... you need to cut just 2 tracks, as in STf you have to desolder only 2 bridges. Just 68 wires, and you're done ;)

Re: Plastic yellowing: Light + heat?

I think the yellowing may also have something to do with using gas stoves/cookers in house where the Atari is/was kept.

Re: 520STFM - TOS upgrade confusion

You may look for 27C1000 (NOT 010 nor 1001) EEPROMs, but they are likely to be 200ns ones, so on the very border line of the acceptable latency for a stock 8MHz ST. They are 32 pins, but the "excessive" pins can be tied together and hooked to VCC (except \OE which should be tied to GND). You may als...

Re: change a bit in a variable ?

It's pretty common in C... Set bit 3 (0 based index, so bit 3 is 4th bit): a|=(1<<3) Clear bit 3: a&=~(1<<3) << - shift left | - bitwise OR & - bitwise AND ~ - bitwise NOT Unfortunately Spectrum BASIC doesn't have bitwise operators, it only has logical ones :( I'm unsure if in HiSoft BASIC it is any...

Re: Floppy corrupted when used on ST and PC won't read it ?

So exactly opposite to my issue, but somehow expected - I was using a true DD drive in Atari and a DD formatted HD diskette together with a HD drive in PC. It is not as bad as with 5,25" disks, but HD drives dislike DD disks and opposite way around too. It works when formatted, saved and read in the...
