Re: CPLD Alternatives for the Future

https://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/customer_notices/xcn15006.pdf Unless there's a document superseding this one, they've not been manufacturing them since the start of 2016. So stocks will definitely be dwindling. "The purpose of this notification is to communicate that Xilinx is disconti...

Re: Lightning VME open Order

Everything is working fine other that uip.tos only works with Chrome, Safari and Firefox hang. Just want to keep up to date with the latest. :) But uip.tos is not part of the drivers and it is released separately. Did you see that there was an update recently for the uiptool for USB: http://atari-f...

Tuxie, have the drivers been updated from the beginning of the year?
I'm not Tuxie, but I'm the one actually working on the drivers. Current released drivers are still r127. See http://www.newtosworld.de/downloads/tre ... htning-vme
May I ask which problem you have with that driver version?

Re: CPLD Alternatives for the Future

That said all the Xilinx XC9500XL range are now discontinued Do you have the source (PDN) for that information? In fact, end of last year there was a PCN that they will change something in the packaging process of the XC9500XL starting in 2020, implying that Xilinx would still produce these CPLDs, ...

Re: Interesting use for a 68000

My secondary digital oscilloscope (vintage model from HP, 400 MHz) is 68k-powered as well. Although the more interesting fact is that it has one of those Dallas NVRAMs with integrated battery from 1990 that is still holding up almost 30 years later.

Re: I1 repeating error with Diag Cart

Like exxos said: Probably the RAM chip for bit 14 is faulty. Other possible causes are the buffer (74xx244) or latch (74xx373) responsible for that bit. Due to the multitude of Atari board layouts it's not possible to give you the component designators, though. If in doubt, look into the schematic a...

Re: Hard disk driver situation confusion

How come a hard disk driver isn't needed when using an emulated hard drive in Steem or Hatari? That's not exactly true. If you use an emulated ACSI, SCSI or IDE drive in Hatari, you need a hard disk driver (or EmuTOS) like on real hardware. Same with the ACSI image option in Steem SSE. Only if you ...

Re: PSU connector ?

According to the BOM of some PSU found on dev-docs.org the connector's part number is 171822-6. Entering that into Google yields: https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/products/6801216/. Looks like it's still made today.

Re: What PLD were the Atari chips? ricoh.. ?

There were several manufacturers of ASICs for Atari. With respect to Ricoh, these are not PLDs per se, rather gate arrays, the 5GH series: https://archive.org/details/bitsavers_r ... /page/n101
