Re: STe Will Not Boot From Cold.

While you are inside, get the RAM sticks out and clean the edge connectors, possibly try and clean the sockets with IPA or something (nothing Acetone based!). My old STe was a pain with the RAM. I had it when I was a kid and I found that cleaning just the RAM prevented whiteouts or bombing.

Re: STe Will Not Boot From Cold.

Regarding the ports, get a hold of some decent mod (bodge) wire, and proceed to go from the pins on the ports to the pads they relate to. By doing this you are simply using the solder pads for the ports for holding them down, while leaving the bodge wires to allow for flexing over time. I can take p...

Re: New dark theme installed

Thanks for this. I think I requested a dark theme in the xmas thread also (as I'm a bit of a nighthawk lol). While Carbon2 isn't properly dark, it is much easier on the eye than the default

Re: Lead-free soldering

I've got solder that pre-dates me, works fine. Some bits need a bit of encouragement with a bit of fine abrasive prior to use, to remove the years of oxidisation for a good joint, but there's nothing wrong with it.

Re: Lead-free soldering

Use what feels best to you. Just don't get annoyed when chemistry fights you when you want to remove it. It's a horrible experience. Desoldering is a LOT worse than applying. That lead free stuff is absolutely terrible for removal, the chemistry is fighting you. You can apply a low point melt solder...

Indeed it is. Sorry you had to live through that. I'm the same with my shed, not slept properly since the day it happened. Gonna take a while for myself to return to normal behaviour.

Re: FOR SALE - MICE & JOYSTICKS (UK) JOB LOT

Don't worry about it :) Not your fault. Things like this happen. It's kinda sad that it happens to the best of us, or those that don't have much but are grateful. I'm not saying that those who are rich should be the ones who get attacked in this way, but it does make you wonder why they target the p...

Re: FOR SALE - MICE & JOYSTICKS (UK) JOB LOT

Had my shed broken into a few weeks back, they took my sons motorbike a few drills, bits and sockets, angle grinders and other easy to grab stuff, they left a C64, a pair of Technics 1200's in flight cases, a couple Tascam DA's and other studio / weird stuff. It's as if they have no clue. Am serious...

Re: FOR SALE STF/E KEYBOARDS (UK)

Here's a thought, I know your hands are bad, but maybe selling the keys either separately or as a full set would be more profitable. Even the PCB's sold bare would be good, (because of that stupid holding spur that breaks many traces if pressure has been applied to the board when installed). You'd h...
