Looks nice! Do need some heat shrink on the terminals inside tho. Yeah, shrink would definitely be better. I should've made the box a little bit longer for that to be practical. What you can't see is that I put some glue blobs on both sides of the pcb to keep it in place. So I'm not worried that it...

Probably the normal way is to just use a regulated 12V power supply, and use a internal 5V regulator.. I don't know much about external drives, but you may not even need 12V.. Only the really old drives generally need that voltage... I've always run my external drives just from a normal 5V brick PS...
