Re: Falcon IDE read failing at higher frequencies

They are exactly that, flukes. Not everyone's machine will over clock the same. Some won't run stable past 20mhz. Some may over clock more.some may work for years at higher speeds then not. Ambient temp is also a factor. Its down to specs of items. My machine would run stable at 24mhz for hours, the...

Re: Icky - Progress

What do you get on the mono select pin ?

EDIT:

Looking at the diagram, I have it on RP1 pin 4, so check soldering there.. also check the mono_det pin to 5V and make sure you have 2.2K there...

Pin also goes to the MFP pin 29... so check soldering around the MFP in general...

Re: DiagROM for ST

If it can do the basics tests automatically on boot and spit out the results, then that should be fine anyway. Yeah it does this. If you actually get as far as the menu your machine is in pretty good shape. Sweet. I would leave it at that for now then.. most likely some chip is failing to init prev...

Re: Icky - Progress

I'm going to try and get some images of the waveforms from HSYNC, VSYNC etc on the STF and then if I can get round to it some off of my original STM as well. If I leave the STF running I do see it keep cycling (rebooting) every 1-2 minutes. If we can compare against a working machine, then it will ...

OK i just pushed an update that echo's to MIDI. I've not got midi in working yet so you need a keyboard or serial port to control it.

Re: Icky - Progress

Just measured and all the pins have the correct pull-up resistance as per the RP's they are connected to. Should be ok now then... I checked a heck of a lot of stuff on the schematics last night and couldn't find anything wrong anywhere now.. not saying my checking is good, but once we get your vid...

Re: Falcon IDE read failing at higher frequencies

But what could make it to run 'faster' ? And only for reading? It worked like a charm before the accident. You say yourself you are accelerating the CPU, so it will read the IDE bus faster... Assuming you now using a different SD card & adapter, just probably was a fluke combo of hardware which mad...

Re: DiagROM for ST

It will work as a cart but that needs at least a working ROM to execute the first 10 instructions or so. IMHO probably not worth going down that road.. at least not yet.. I am considering also echoing the console out to midi... would that be annoying or useful? If it can be as well as serial then i...

Re: Forgottenmyname - Progress

So, had a good look at the socket for the ROM and I'm sure that one whole side is not quite lining up properly, so will bite the bullet and turn it the right way round. (I'd modified the notches on the socket before for my mistake instead of just unsoldering etc. :) Might be a idea to fit a new soc...

Re: Falcon IDE read failing at higher frequencies

If its working on a stock config, but not accelerated bus, then the bus is running to fast for it to be reliable.
