It does seem to be temperamental on 16MHz
Could be interfacing issues to the MMU, or the DMA might not just cope with it. Up the voltage a bit, see if it helps :P

Spoke to soon its temperamental. Went to put in the HDD and it did not boot. No signal this time.

Put it back to 8MHz and its working again.
Assume you going through a 33R resistor to the DMA clock pin ?

Nope its booted - The 16MHz needed to be buffered so I took it from the 16MHZ_BUFFERED_1 that was spare on IC900 pin 12
oh sweet! benchmark time then ;)

Only just got to trying this out.

Clocking DMA to 16MHz the board did not function. Just got white screen and nothing else.

Need to look at what is going on but not sure if I will have much more time tonight.
Dam DMA! OH well, was worth a try :)

Re: DMA port "update" ideas..

not sure how acsi works, but wont it allow internal and external at once, like scsi ? i remember back in the day you could use pass through cables and connect many devices ? or maybe im mistaken, the external boxes i had did contain acsi to scsi host interfaces. Not really sure.. I know SCSI drives...

Re: BLITTER RE-CREATION THOUGHTS

So my findings are firstly a diode doesn't drop enough voltage and ends up being 4.2V not 3.3V, so a regulator be better really on these things.. 5V isn't 5V output, ends up 4.2V.. 3.3V should still be able to drive a logic 1 on a 5V rail anyway.. Main problem is when the 3.3V side isn't connected t...

Re: DMA port "update" ideas..

Yeah probably should keep the port as the project goal is to remain total backwards compatibility.. My assumption would be that everyone would buy the internal hard drive, but of course if people already have external drives, they are not going to like been forced to buy an internal one this motherb...

Re: BLITTER RE-CREATION THOUGHTS

My test buffer PCB arrived.. So will try and build this up and give it a try out.. Really this is just double checking that when the 3.3V side goes tri-state, that it does not affect the 5V side. I don't think that it will, but I'm going to try this out on breadboard once assembled up is to make sur...

Re: Forgottenmyname - Progress

I'm using a IMP shifter in my STF and works fine.. also IMP DMA,GLUE,MMU in fact.

There are some variations of shifter, some MEGA shifters had direct analouge outputs, don't know if any made it to the real world or not, its in the MEGA schematics.
