Re: The beginning..

exxos it appears I'm a little slow here. Is there a BOM for the H5. I see excerpts of a parts list with lots of caps. Also the 68901 doesn't have the same foot print as the H4. Is the used foot print meant to solder the chip directly to the board or a socket that solders to one side of the board? A...

Re: Projects and Stuff

@PaulJ seems like reasonable advice. Just purchase the better part of two 1040’s and both had supplies with missing fuses. Assume the supplies are suspect but had to order fuses just not the ones pictured. I would guess a lot of the current ratings are bad. Don’t believe the flip top could do 130 a...

Thanks @PaulJ , do you also have a guide for correct chip orientation?
Phil, I would have included an orientation guide but for fuses they can be inserted either way. I would watch out for the brass fuse though maybe insert the pointy end away from ya. :D :D :hide:

Re: Projects and Stuff

I've noticed some of you appear to be having issues with power supply currents and required fuse sizes. So in an effort to put this subject to bed once and for all I've taken the liberty of posting this guide for fuse replacement. Pay attention @PhilC , @rubber_jonnie .

Unless oil is coming out through it, it's just tarnished :D
If you call it patina it increases value.

Re: exxos's H5 A3 Build

exxos , is it possible to get a picture without the wire spool on top. Maybe a high res image to use in ordering parts. Very nice looking board. Is the 68901 populated? I think it is but can’t tell for sure. You and Icky did a great job on this board. On second look it doesn’t look populated.. Anyh...

Re: Problems with my Atari 1040STf

I've found that it always boots to tos if I wait an hour in between turning it on, maybe i'll get it to boot 2 times in a row, but then it's back to black screen when I turn it on, until I've left it turned off for a while again. But this makes me think that there's some part that's not able to dis...

Re: desoldering a dil 68000

I purchased the hako gun about a year ago with a healthy skepticism of the vacuum pump located in the gun but it had great reviews. Sure enough it works great and you don't need to listen to the vacuum pump droning away while you work. After desoldering the 68k you can basically just lift it out. I ...

Re: FOR SALE MEGA ST CASE UK

@PaulJ Now I've got the second Mega ST I'm not really looking for any more...at least not until I reduce the number of STF/Ms a bit :D Though I do have 3 Mega keyboards & only 2 Megas, one is short a couple of key tops & I've not yet found a source for replacing them :( I won't worry about adding t...

Re: FOR SALE MEGA ST CASE UK

Now all @rubber_jonnie needs is a proper Mega ST keyboard... :hide: :poke: As I like to say, 'good luck with that'. Also, unicorns. Going to be a cold day when JezC cons someone to trade a mega for his keyboard. Although if he does it will be a mega with a buthered floppy opening. Maybe just a buth...
