Books I learnt to code from

Just found these in a box of stuff my parents cleared out of their loft - I worked through all 3 on my 800xl back before my Spectrum +2 or ST 😊

Anyone else have these?!

Re: STM1 mouse lead

I cut the connector in half along the original mold lines, dremelled out the inside (it's filled with rubber), glued it back together and soldered onto the original connectors.

There's some pics and more detail of what I did here:

Re: STM1 mouse lead

I managed to replace the mouse cable using a grey rs232 extension cable.

Without boring you with the detail (unless you want it), I managed to reuse the original Atari 9 pin connector. As a result, it looks pretty much factory original:

Re: STM1 mouse lead

I wonder if an rs232 extension cable would work (with the male end removed and soldered to the mouse.

Assuming all 9 pins are connected in the cable, I should actually have 1 too many?

Re: STM1 mouse lead

If you're okay with cutting the internal connector (leaving a few centimeters of the strands intact) and soldering it to a new cable, you'll probably have a lot more chance of success in finding a replacement cable. At least that's what I did. The wire protector can be removed relatively easy so yo...

STM1 mouse lead

My ST mouse is fighting me at the moment. I've been playing quite a few point and click adventures like Monkey Island and the microswitches finally gave out, so I replaced those. Now the mouse refuses to scroll down unless I wiggle the cable around. I've already shortened the cable once to get rid o...

Re: Hxc vs flashfloppy

Well I must say that the Hxc floppy emulator software is great. I had 2 things I really wanted to play on my ST - the union demo and Where Time Stood Still. Both were stx files and both seem to work on flashfloppy when converted to hfe 🙂 (well they load at least!)

Re: Hxc vs flashfloppy

Thanks all. I'll buy the firmware anyway to support the work the developer is doing, but for now it sounds like I only really need the manager software.

Will download it later and give it a try!

Re: Hxc vs flashfloppy

Thanks, so is the hfe conversion software part of the licensed software from hxc?

Sounds like it's the converter I need rather than updated firmware
