Re: To TOS 2.06, or not to TOS 2.06 - that is the question

Thanks - so it's just the 68000 based one you sell in your store. I do also have an ultrasatan that I haven't setup yet (winter project), but wasn't clear that 2.06 was in any way necessary to run that. And yes certainly a lot of what I'll run will be games images, maybe an assembler occasionally if...

To TOS 2.06, or not to TOS 2.06 - that is the question

Hi all Im after opinions on something. Apologies if this is obvious to you all, but in all my searching online I can't seem to get a clear answer: I was going to fit the 16mhz accelerator to my 4mb stfm and upgrade TOS to 1.04. However I now see that the accelerator has a 2.06 decoder onboard and so...

Looking to swap A500 for A600

Hi all This is a longshot, but I've been slowly rebuilding my home computer collection to get back everything I used to own. When I eventually sold my ST, I bought an A600 (sorry!), owned it for a year and then went onto PCs for university. Anyway the reason for the message is that in my current col...

Scummvm-lite

Hi all this is probably a really stupid question, but everywhere I look on the subject seems to assume a basic level of understanding of the topic, which I don't have. I've become aware recently that there is a version of scummvm available that will allow me to play point and click adventures on my ...

Ultrasatan worth it or not?

Hi all, hope you're well I'm currently running an STFM that is basically stock except for an exxos 4mb ram upgrade fitted a few years back and a gotek replacing the floppy drive. I've recently thought about getting a hard drive (ultrasatan), but the more I think about it, the more I wonder if it's w...

Re: 800XL memory upgrade options in UK

Thanks @tzok

Is the expansion that this person is selling the same thing? If so, looks like he/she already has some built up for not much money (23 Euros)

Will try contacting and seeing if they still make them

Re: 800XL memory upgrade options in UK

Thanks rubber_jonnie - certainly worth considering then. I'm always a little wary about upgrade cards that do a lot of extra things for very old machines - before you know it, the original hardware is not really needed at all and it starts to defeat the object (for me at least). I'll definitely give...

800XL memory upgrade options in UK

Now the 800xl is up and running and I've been able to play a few of the games I remember from my childhood, I'm tempted to look at upgrading to allow for running the 128k games I never got to try back then. There seem to be a few options out there, from Rambo boards to upgrade to 256k to full on 1me...

Re: 800xl video

I've got a pretty good picture now using svideo and a number of mods from various online resources, so I will list those that I've found made a difference here once I'm done. As tzok has said, so far very little has been needed to get quite a nice picture. There is one area of improvement still I'd ...
