Re: My fight against Microsoft Outlook hotmail etc email blocking

Seeing as distributed spam bot systems easily and automatically set up the DNS entries for their bots so that they pass all these tests (which merely verify that the server is who it says it is and that the message hasn't been modified) the whole thing is pointless. It does at least make it more di...

Re: My fight against Microsoft Outlook hotmail etc email blocking

I have run my own mail server for almost 30 years now (wow, I am getting old), and still do. It has become challenging in recent years, but these days I see it as sort of a personal challenge to keep running my own server and win the battle against the giants. Google/Gmail got really strict a ...

Re: Eclipse 2024

I was lucky enough to be in the path of totality in 1999. It remains one of the coolest experiences of my life. Even though I understand how it all works, there's still something magical about those few minutes.

That wouldn't matter if the VCC is common. Not saying it is in this case, as I honestly don't remember, just sayin'...

Re: My summer project: A colour Stacy

Okay, another question. I've been watching a couple of the RGB2HDMI "how to" video's, and in them they state that the device draws power from the ST's motherboard. It looks like (and apologies if I've got this wrong), that other people are powering theirs using the onboard P/S connector o...

Re: My summer project: A colour Stacy

Oh that! IIRC I just desoldered the barrel jack from the board and added a little snap connector on a pigtail, then routed 12V up from the main body of the Stacy alongside the HDMI cable and terminated that with the matching snap connector. Really just any reasonable way to take the 12V off the pico...

Re: My summer project: A colour Stacy

Hmm, maybe I'm just looking at it wrong? Here's a picture: Yep, power is carried in the black cable between the controller board and the panel. PS In the picture from the post you linked - what is the white block attached to the Pico P/S? That's an ATX breakout plug, with only the necessary wires c...

Re: My summer project: A colour Stacy

So I do have that screen and controller board in now and I'm dying to get it setup. They didn't include a power lead for the LCD itself. Are you sure about that? The LVDS connection in my setup includes power in the same cable as video. Previously, I had powered my STacy with a Pico P/S but by send...

Re: exxos blog - random goings on

Was a old password from years ago it seems. You sure about that? It says, "and provided the correct account name and password". Allowing for slightly different Chinese text, and translation, this looks pretty much like a normal Steam Guard email. I think you should change your password.
