FOR SALE - PiModem

Hello guys! Offering this on multiple places, and wanted to give you the opportunity as well. A little backstory: When i started modding my Atari520ST, one of the things i really wanted to get going was dialing into BBS systems. For me, BBS'es were one of the most exciting expiriences when i got my ...

Re: Should some old computer do all (same) as some new ?

I have a PDF of the ST Profibuch. My description would be: "An overwhelming 1500 page behemoth of knowledge". But then i still could not even read a single value from the Disk and get the expected value. I might try again some day, but for now i will focus on finishing the hardware modifications. Fo...

Re: Should some old computer do all (same) as some new ?

You are right, software is a big problem. I have already tried to code a bit of C on the ST, but i did not get much beyond "Hello World". Although i have some expirience with coding C on PIC MCUs, and even written a small console program on linux, i struggle with GEM/TOS. There are few resources for...

Re: A BIt of Advice Please

First of all, it would be really prefered if you could confirm that the output of the ST works properly. Could be tested with an original monitor, or compatible TV (RGB-SCART) or something like that. Then, it depends on your model. If you have a plain ST without RF Modulator, there is a composite sy...

Re: Should some old computer do all (same) as some new ?

I really understand the dilemma. Many people just want to use a retro computer like a modern one. But i think that is mostly people who come late to the game. But those who have worked with similar machines back in the day, they realize that that's just not how it works. I think there is three possi...

Re: My retro computer blog

I must say, good work on the case. On my 520STm i also keep the case original on the outside. I just removed a bit of plastic inside the case to make room for IDE Cables, but that is not visible from the outside. On the other hand, i think personally i would not have done all the work and then put a...

5V rail... from the main cap near PSU connector directly (almost - via the factory choke coils) to Shifter, MMU and DMA, and I've added a 100nF cap under the Shifter.
Did that improove the quality?
I also have those vertical stripes on my 520 STm.

Might be a bad chip.
But, is there a pull-up somewhere in this signal path?
I can imagine that a broken pullup could look similar

Re: WANTED - Atari original injection molds

Given that those molds are massive pieces of steel, it might be possible to find them with a metal detector on low sensitivity without ever opening a palette.
