Re: WTB: Falcon DSP IC
IIRC Isnt the Falcon CPU a 'custom job' too? I don't think so. Atari could have put in a large order for them, so they may look a little unique. I'm told that any ordinary QFP 68030 will work just fine but I'm yet to try it. I have a Falcon I was working on during lockdown and the Freescale 68030 f...

Re: Hi All
Welcome back!
Feel free to post a photo of your setup. I love seeing them!
Don't be afraid to ask for here for advice before changing the fan and NVRAM. It's not hard, but there are a few nuances you may want to know and there's no such thing as a silly question.

Re: WTB: Falcon DSP IC
In that case, does anyone want to chip in and order a 30 foot container of Atari bits to make it worthwhile? Good luck with that. He won't do bulk orders as he seems to be worried about resellers. It's a little unreasonable but I do see his point when it comes to the flippers on eBay. He seem...

Re: Ethical dilemma
I just opened it and I'm speechless! This shoe box package for one tiny IC went through Toll Priority! That would have cost me $500 if I tried that!

Re: Ethical dilemma
That's a very good point. I didn't want to pierce it incase I had to send it back, but you're probably right.
Wow! What an inefficient (and environmentally irresponsible) way to post something!

Ethical dilemma
Hi. :) A very long story short, I blew up my ct60e in March. I thought I may need to replace XC95144XL They were hard to find. The problem turned out to be a different IC and I've since repaired it and long forgot I ever ordered this stuff. Anyway, my XC95144XL arrived this week, but they didn't sen...

Re: New Falcon a lemon?
It's been changed and now I guess I need to reset the video to deal with NTSC? It's not quite that simple. You would need to remove or disable the PAL clock circuit and fit an NTSC oscillator at U65. The CF doesn't seem to be dos formatted and my pc cannot read it. They are dos formatted, or at lea...

Re: To hot for me at 30c!
Being in Australia I'm quite used to days getting up to and above 40C - Oddly enough, when I was in London a few years back it was about 30C and boy I felt it! It must be that the buildings there aren't designed for those kind of temperatures.

Cost of obsolete components.
So I damaged my CT60e. It's a long story. I was suspecting DS1085 so I ordered some from RS... $1.25ea... Seems fair. Send me a hand full. Turns out that I had ordered DS1086 (poor eyesight and the ever increasing MacBook resolution) which isn't pin compatible with the DS1085 on CT60e. Rats! So I lo...
