Re: Sell old machines

I guess if I have to ask, I probably don't need it, but what is an Atari SA?

I'm certain I'll feel silly once you explain it, but I had to ask.

Re: How many ST games have survived or have been lost through time?

I agree with the others. Just because your disks work today, doesn't mean they'll work tomorrow, and that's certainly not a reason not to back them up regardless. I mean, I have all my digital pictures and videos stored on my hard drive and its working well, so why backup, right? Wrong! I always try...

Re: Commander Keen

However, I know the game was not originally on PC but on other platforms. I'm not really sure what you're referring to here, but I believe you're thinking of some other game series. The Commander Keen series of games was almost exclusively PC. The first five were DOS only. The sixth, Keen Dreams, w...

Re: Atari ST confirmed working with RGBtoHDMI Pi project

I may be interested, but I really need to read up more on the project so that I know what all is involved before I do. It looks like there's some SMD involved. I'm better than average at soldering, but I have zero experience at SMD. I'm definitely watching you guys with interest.

Re: Atari ST confirmed working with RGBtoHDMI Pi project

I see that someone successfully connected that to the EST. There a couple screenshots from the ST: https://github.com/c0pperdragon/Amiga-Digital-Video/issues/6 That screenshot almost looks too good to be real. Almost like a screenshot from Hatari. If that's an actual picture of the output, that is ...

Re: sci-fi film involving plane from past..

I gotcha covered. I don't think it was a movie. I think it was an episode of the new Amazing Stories on Apple TV+; the final episode of the season, entitled The Rift.

If it wasn't that, it had the exact same premise.

Re: Why the hell did this happen ?

That's crazy! I always use those on the washing machine and just felt so safe having used them. So much for that warm and fuzzy feeling now.

Seriously, I'd get someone to look into your water pressure. I mean, everyone likes great water pressure, but that's ridiculous!

Re: Retrotink, or other upscalers

Interesting; thanks! This makes the OSSC look more flexible and maybe more reliable. That's a useful datapoint. The OSSC is extremely more powerful and flexible than the RetroTink, but it also quite a bit more expensive. It does have a lot more settings and adjustability as well. Interesting. Since...

Re: Retrotink, or other upscalers

I don't have a RetroTink device, but I can vouch for using SCART. I had one of the Best Electronics VGA cables and the output was only ever acceptable at best. Low resolution was pretty good, but medium was just only acceptable. I used it with my NEC multisync monitor and it was OK. Things were mayb...

Re: Tech regrets

I never really sold anything, but I've had a couple of those moments. First of all, when the space bar on my original 800 broke in my sophomore year of college from too many dorm-mates playing Karateka. It was broke, to I bought an 800XL and just threw away the 800. I still can't believe it! Secondl...
