Re: Falcon Upgrades

MiNT has tar and dd (and probably gzip but apparently not installed on my aranym setup) .. the issue is more the tape drive kernel driver that is not available. so you won't have a /dev/st0 device to access the tape drive

Re: Falcon Upgrades

Is it safe to assume you wrote on these tape from a unix system with tar ?
I remember using GEMAR in the day (on a 150MB Viper Archive SCSI tape drive) but I'm not sure it car read tar archive tape.
And as far as I know there is no tape driver in MiNT.

Re: STE / MSTE 68020 booster

Yes just the main board.
Memory, network, video will be on add-on cards (some of witch are also mostly designed but no PCB has been made until we get a final version of the 68020 main board).

Re: ASM programmer to write a simple IDE test loop program ?

yea, that gcc implementation is not really the best for sure.
I would have though that it would have done a loop with some optimization like if it's a multiple of 2 use cmp.w, if it's a multiple of 4 use cmp.l
Also instead of addq.l #1, use the (a0)+ and (a1)+more the 2 moves

Re: ASM programmer to write a simple IDE test loop program ?

You could use memcmp to compare the 2 buffers and only go in the "slow" comparison to display the error if memcmp fails. if(memcmp(buffer, read_buffer, BUFFER_SIZE) != 0) { for (int byte = 0; byte < BUFFER_SIZE; byte++) { if (read_buffer[byte] != (byte & 0xff)) { printf("Data mismatch: expected 0b")...
