Re: RAM change to simm ?

These seem cheap enough https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/products/3789447/?grossPrice=Y&cm_mmc=UK-PLA-DS3A-_-google-_-PLA_UK_EN_Connectors-_-Ic_Sockets%7CSimm_Sockets-_-PRODUCT_GROUP&matchtype=&pla-392754099280&s_kwcid=AL!7457!3!243845770765!!!g!392754099280!&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI9bT0urGf3wIV4bztCh1rgQm...

Re: STFM case remake

One thing I've read about recently, is injection moulds that use 3d printing to create them. Wonder if that might be an option?

Re: RAM change to simm ?

Yeah, that is a problem. Possible DRAM could be soldered direct (not using sockets). I am also half thinking that if the MB went more SMT stuff, I could get my assembly place to do all that work anyway. But of course costs increase that way over people soldering stuff themselves. 72pin is just a ea...

Re: RAM change to simm ?

There are SOJ sockets, seem to be only in the USA on evilbay though  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/QTY-15-42-PIN-SURFACE-MOUNT-SOJ-SOCKETS-SOJ-42P-400-/111206930396 The only problem with that is they are surface mount sockets, meaning you will need to attach them to the board for folks who have ...

Re: RAM change to simm ?

It still may be worth having the RAM as a addon card as if the DRAM goes off the market, it would render the MB useless if the RAM failed for any reason. In fact the Falcon RAM headers could remain, so that solves future problems. Then DRAM could be soldered onto the motherboard. Given the RAM prob...

Re: CO700115 REV. 2B with Piggyback RAM expansion.

Damn, something is not right, after cleaning up the legs that were soldered onto the existing RAM, I'm getting the same screen corruption and its not booting. Magnifying glass out to see if the MMU has any dodgy connections at the socket, plus a clean of the pins, and if there are any solder whisker...

Re: TF project.

Any tips for soldering the PGA socket? Is paste and rework torch okay or should I stop being lazy solder each pin with an iron? The sockets were expensive so I don't want to mess that part up. :) Although I haven't built a TF accelerator, I did build a PAK-68/20, which also used a 68020 and the sam...

Re: PSU Risers for STF Remake board

Managed to print some out, they seem fine, but only just got them done, as I ran out of filament! Bloody annoying, though to be fair it was just what came with the printer, and I've had a good run with it. Still, I have some filament coming for Xmas as well, so if I order some now as well, I'll have...
