Re: 1040STe locks up or bombs out after warming up

I'd try hunting for an unusually hot IC, wrong resistance on a bus (adress or data) ... the alternative might be hairline cracks somewhere ... (I have a MegaSTE where it seems the DMA bus goes wonky after 10-15 minutes .. so maybe something similar. There I'm thinking of adding resistance to the pul...

Re: STE V1.5 32MHz BOOSTER - STATUS

I'll try to source some locally :) The pitch is 1.27mm? I believe so yes. I bought a few 1.27mm headers but I must confess that they fit just as "badly" IMHO with or without the dummy CPU. Of course, I don't really know what a "good fit" should be like ... maybe I should just send you a dummy? :) /...

Re: Good place from which to order 27256 EPROMs ?

I see that it is still available, although here, in Hungary not really. Anyone can recommend good source ? OTP version is OK too. As I see, it goes straight into 6-chip, 28-pin sockets of STs. I certainly did it some 30 years ago, but was not sure now, so looked schematic. Better would be to go on ...

Re: TOS105 ROM

All it took already months and hundreds of hours of work, so I really don't want to see that some sell programmed EPROMs with it on EBay or other ways. These features work best from TOS ROM, and doing it with some SW, what loads in RAM would decrease compatibility, and make usage harder. Some featu...

Re: STE V1.5 32MHz BOOSTER - STATUS

What type of pins should I test with? Basically I made one with the exact measurements you gave and printed on "high quality" and it fits really well ... but if I can test myself before sending to you I might be able to iterate the design somewhat :) IMG_20180430_181728_0092.JPG IMG_20180430_181701_...

Re: Lightning VME open Order

Alright, prettier version will come but this will do in the meantime. Prints well on an Ultimaker 2, 100% infill, surprisingly rigid even with PLA. (Yes, I have paint in the right color which will be used on a more final version ;)) .STL: https://troed.ddns.net/f/472c0b4cd78c4de584bd/ lightning_back...

Re: Lightning VME open Order

Ouch. To say this was a tight fit is an understatement! Now not everyone might have these PALs socketed as was in my MSTE, but also the clearance to the PLCC socket was sub-millimeter to be able to fit this. The PAL I had to take out from its socket first, and then (again, submillimeter clearance) s...

Well, for various definitions of "on the way" since you sent it the day after you posted the above ..

It has arrived now at least.

Re: Hissing and whistling in the STe audio output

I think it's important to separate between random noise added due to memory accesses etc, video circuitry (15kHz, different in mono) and the 2600Hz "STE left channel whine".

The latter likely has a single cause regardless of other activity in the system.
