Re: Mongrel edition motherboard thoughts

Troed is building his, but he cannot seem to sit still at the moment, so progress is slow there.. I'm sitting very still at this very moment! 11300 feet up, on my way between continents ;) Next week I should be able to fit in some good progress though. Board is finished, just need to debug why it's...

Re: Mongrel edition motherboard thoughts

At 5.12V and a heatsink my Shifter (we have a sample population of _one_ so far ;)) was happy with 64Mhz pixel clock (doubleST mono)

However, I think doubleST should have Smonson's FPGA-Shifter. I'll hopefully get back to getting that to work soon.

Whats that for exactly a new mist core or something ?
Well MiSTer*, but it means there's finally cycle exact VHDL implementations.

Its amazing what you can do with a box of nylon mounts and sheet of perspex - it was like having my own Lego / Meccano set to play with.
Cool build!!

Re: VGA for low and medium res?

Thanks for the info. I think I've found a way around it - hidden on another part of the monitor are both composite and component rgb phono inputs. So they should work fine if I just plug in the relevant rgb signals to them I guess? Has the advantage of meaning my spectrum should work with it too! U...

Re: DMA port "update" ideas..

I've used the Mega ST internal ACSI format (added it to my main STE) to connect an internal Unicorn. I haven't really looked into the differences between the Mega STE internal ACSI and the Mega ST one, but quite a few existing stuff are compatible with the Mega ST.

Re: Rescuing an ancient 520ST

This is exactly how it looks when done by Atari so I'm pretty sure the RAM upgrade is original. I used to own a 520+ and here's another one that has it: https://www.exxoshost.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=540 Reason I said so is that the resistors are usually not placed where these are, and whoe...

Re: Rescuing an ancient 520ST

wow, the electrons were sure in a hurry to get out of that chip! Didn't know there was a -38 Shifter ? I have 3 ST's here I never touched. Probably gonna just have to start selling some machines to clear up some space soon. The -20 is the oldest, then they made the -38, followed by the -38A. Ijor h...
