Re: STFM case remake

To me it seems like unless we find a much cheaper method of producing a 1040ST case, this will be a dead end. There is a huge financial risk and nobody of us seems to have that kind of money to blow. Maybe it would be an idea to try making a case that is a) DIYable b) fits an ST Mainboard c) is expa...

Re: IC deterioration

Okay, I do get this as well. Everything that stores information as an electric charge will sooner or later give up, be it by imperfect insulation or electromagnetic exposure. But can this be true for semicondcutors in general, especially ICs? I did some googling as well, and came up with a bunch of ...

Re: IC deterioration

Problems for me started in last 5 years, approx. My Ataris gone more and more problematic. I removed IDE adapters from STE, Mega STE, 1040 ST, just to off load bus. Also like you say, chips aging now, even more tolerances in play, even more problems in recent years. What may have been reliable mach...

Re: USB Audio Interface

Yes, I daily work with fibre wiring as well. But we're talking vintage audio here, so no toslink and no symetric signal path either ;-) I'll try my luck with providing a thick, common ground to all components, which is quite easy to do. Good quality cinch cables are of course in the picture as well....

Re: USB Audio Interface

I did a little research on this, but I am still not entirely sure what to do. I have three hifi components, all class 2 and double insulated. Which in fact means, they have a more or less floating signal ground and no reference ground. When these get connected together, they will equalise their pote...

Re: Am I getting it right ?

I spotted in thread at AF some discussion about running DOSBOX on Aranym, and problems with it under Mint : What the heck? What for? And even more relevant: Why not use a) DOS Box under Windows b) a real DOS machine? I can't believe that there is no DOSBOX for Android - since that would be how to r...

Re: CD graphics can anyone do one ?

Might add 1p more value signed! Especially in a couple of years, after you invented the MIDI-controlled Teslacoil, released a couple of albums, got rich, recreated the Atari ST line, replaced the void that Microsoft left after abandoning Windows and got even richer ;) Oops, didn't mean to tell you ...
