Re: SR98 PSU GETS MORE LOVE

Check to see if all capacitors are placed correctly (+ and -). Also that you haven't exchanged any capacitors, so they're in the wrong place. Finally, being a vintage computer there might be potential contact issues (cold solder joints, partly broken PCB traces etc. Check all circuit traces to see, ...

Re: VGA/Atari/S-video output project

Ah! That's useful info I didn't already know. Out of the two (mechanical switch with a debouncer circuit or a solid state switch/multiplexer IC), what would be the preferred method? I'm having trouble finding a 3-way multiplexer though. Maybe I'll have to cook up a more complex method with a switch ...

Re: VGA/Atari/S-video output project

Cool! Apart from the number of analog switches it should have, I suppose the other requirement is that it can handle the following frequency range without (noticeable) degradation, right?: 50 - 35700 Hz 1V peak to peak video level (the numbers above taken from ST colour mode ( 15.75 KHz Hsync/50-60 ...

Re: VGA/Atari/S-video output project

So basically replace the (mechanical) switch locations in my schematic to go through the switch locations inside an analog multiplexer IC of some kind? Switching the following signals to allow for switching between the 3 modes: - Pin 2 (Composite sync) - Pin 4 (Mono detect) - Pin 6 (Green) - Pin 7 (...

Re: VGA/Atari/S-video output project

Would a mechanical switch controlling an analog multiplexer IC of some sort be a better solution?
Which signal lines are essential to switch? Or should I switch them all between the 3 modes?

Upgrading an original Atari mouse

I'm pretty sure I recently saw a web page somewhere describing how to upgrade the original Atari ST mouse with new internals, but now I can't find the page.... If this sounds familir, can someone share the link please? I believe the modification turned the mouse into an optical one, but don't quote ...

Re: Diagnostic cartridge (dead Mega STe)

Ah! Yes, I remember being surprised that I could do that from my STe.
But the diagnostic cartridge serial output is apparently only designed to work with "Modem 1", so I'm unable to check the other two that way.

Re: Diagnostic cartridge (dead Mega STe)

Can I now safely assume that since the two SCC controlled serial ports ("Modem 2" and "Serial 2") are OK since I'm able to communicate across the two computers (MSTE and STe using the Exxos nullmodem cable and Connect95 where I can see what's being typed on the opposite computer)...
