Re: 1040STe CA401177 1991, Soldered CPU, C398789 DMA, Ajax, integrated Blitter

Thanks, judging by the flux residue on the rear of the board, looks like something was done just above the RAM, perhaps RF modulator repair?

It truly is amazing how many board versions there are!

Has that board been recapped or changed in any way? Notice a few minor differences to mine (which is otherwise exact same model of board)

Mine has since had new 2.06 TOS chips and replacement RAM from the good man Exxos :-)

Re: Atari 8-Bit mega-collection

Yeah OneDrive maybe isn't so great with multiple connections - so perseverance is key - that's why I split it up rather than put out one huge file (relatively speaking!)

Atari 8-Bit mega-collection

Hi all, This is an archive I have of some of my Atari 8-Bit 'stuff' - not everything, but a collection of games, but more importantly, lots of documents! https://1drv.ms/u/s!AiSPsJSD7WXnmMkhFanz__chGbF_9A?e=1dVTOI There are folders if you wish to be selective, or RAR archives of each folder to make ...

ST - STE HDD Games archive

No idea where I originally found this, but have uploaded to my OneDrive and here's the link to go grab it.

Hope it is useful! - If this collection is objected to by anyone, I can easily take down the link.

Tri-mode LCD VGA monitor - 15Khz compatible!

I am gradually building up my STE, and latest part arrived today - the ST2VGA adapter. I then went through a few of my spare monitors kicking around, and amazingly, two of them support all three video modes! First one is a Dell E170Sb - HI mode is off centre a bit and dithered desktop wallpaper is s...

Re: Memory test on TOS 2.06 (STE)

Indeed, but some sort of CPU booster may still be on the cards once I've got it running nicely - at least RAM module speed compatibility won't be an issue with your newly manufactured RAM kit fitted :-)

Re: Memory test on TOS 2.06 (STE)

Cover off PSU might not be a bad idea, the amount of screws on that piece is crazy, perhaps Atari wanted the steel casing to give the whole thing a feeling of solidity!

As for RAM, the new set from exxos is I think 70ns so if there is ever a new booster for STE made available, I might be tempted.

Re: Memory test on TOS 2.06 (STE)

Thanks tzok Will at least keep me running until the new bits arrive - the old ram was two brands, Toshiba, and Mitsubishi, and each RAM set was different speed - one was 100ns and the other 120ns, so probably best to get something new & matched :-) Just need to find out which pair is the faulty ...

Re: Memory test on TOS 2.06 (STE)

Okay, after much messing around cleaning and inspecting, the RAM is no better - swapping pairs just moves the "x" in memtest. I guess because of way the RAM banks work, I couldn't just put in 2MB (2x1MB) as wouldn't boot with stripes on screen. So... have bit the bullet and just ordered fr...
