Re: TF536 Dimensions

The main thing I was thinking is connecting a PCB holding the PLCC to a PCB with the DIP via pins. They wold not be far apart and you may not be able to access all the pins on either socket once they are joined. I'm thinking of a permanent connection with no more than about 5mm extra height rather t...

Re: TF536 Dimensions

I have thought about this a bit. The position of the CPU doesn't have to be limited by overlaps. I still don't have an A600 - it's been sitting at a French airport for 8 weeks - but I think there is plenty of vertical room. Why not have two boards relocating the CPU, one fitting onto the PLCC and co...

Re: I need a soldering station to get started

Buy a good Hakko, keep it for life. Hard to say whether it or a multimeter* it is your number one tool. If you're going to have it for 20 years isn't it worth some small amount per year? *buying a dodgy meter with "CAT-IV" printed on the front when the maker has no clue what that means is a bad idea...

I think nobody can view that link but someone logged in as you - it says “you can’t view these order details’. Can you just name the seller?

Re: Sidequest: VGA scan doubler

I’m interested in both but smonson’s original is a scan doubler. I did find those ISSI parts but for simplicity will get started with three 512Kx8. Should be able to put them all on the same buses and select R, G, B with /CE. I also have level shifters, video DAC and prototyping breakouts on the way...

Re: Sidequest: VGA scan doubler

https://au.mouser.com/datasheet/2/12/Alliance%20Memory_16M%20Fast_AS7C351232-10BIN_January%20-1265408.pdf Too bad about the BGA and the price but this looks like the fast async SRAM that is wide enough for RGB8:8:8 and big enough for deinterlacing the highest Amiga resolutions. But not a terrible pr...

Re: Sidequest: VGA scan doubler

Interlaced display is alternate display of lines unless I misunderstand. Wouldn’t you have to buffer at least one full even frame then combine it with the coming odd frame to output the combined non-interlaced frame?
