Re: JezC - the second (and laST) H5C1 build
Well, I fitted the floppy power lead and the board is again booting to only show a white screen (keyboard LED is lit, getting about 5.09v on the +5v rail)... So looks like it will need even more diagnosing at the weekend or next week. :( I'm out tomorrow (leaving very early & back late) so littl...

Re: [Video] B-Roll: Investigating DSTB1 AltRAM issues on my STFM
Badwolf At some point I'll get at least one of my H5C1 boards working & then try to finish off the build of my DSTB1...then we might have more for comparison. I think it's fitting a few of the caps plus programming it up that is still to be done, but I've no idea on how long that will take (sev...

Re: Suggested way to copy files to SC on PC for BBAN HDD emu
I don't think anyone writes guides for anything really  I assume you can use 2 cards but I only use one. You can only access 1 partition on the PC which be the C: drive.. thats about all i know. 99% of my work is with floppy anyway. So don't use hard drives much. I've used HDDs on (some of) m...

Indeed - and I'm starting to share your loathing of PLCC sockets...
We'll see if things progress much further later this evening I guess...

Re: JezC - the second (and laST) H5C1 build
Not tried it in the case yet... ...but while programming up a second EPROM (to go in the original H5C1) I noticed some of the pins on the EPROM from this board were a little off centre, so I've put the newly programmed one in this new H5C1...and it now boots :D Since I've not yet fitted the power ca...

Re: Suggested way to copy files to SC on PC for BBAN HDD emu
Floppy is simple. But for ease HD11 and TOS/DOS with byteswap enabled will allow pc and ST to read the same SD card.. Ok, thanks - can I use a second SD card in the second slot while booting off the first slot still? I'm thinking that step (1) will be to back up the existing SD card image (or make ...

Re: Life, the universe & everything...Atari (well, mostly)
Well, aside from a few hours building & struggling to get another H5C1 working, I've had little retro time of late :( But as part of this H5C1 saga I'm also trying to clear off a couple of small tasks from my retro to-do list...but partly related as I need to free up a PLCC 68k for the second H5...

Suggested way to copy files to SC on PC for BBAN HDD emu
Hi All, I want to try the BBAN HDD Emulator on one of my STEs with the original 8MHz CPU before I fit the 32MHz booster...and then re-test. This would be an ideal opportunity to copy some more files onto the SD cards for it before I do so, so how are people managing this at the moment? I have HD Dri...

Re: JezC - the second (and laST) H5C1 build
How does that work with the VGA connector instead of a normal monitor socket? Does it work on all resolutions? I am guessing it doesn't fit through the round hole in the ST case. You still need a monitor capable of supporting all 3 resolutions (so 15kHz as well as 31kHz) but it effectively gets rid...

Re: JezC - the second (and laST) H5C1 build
I might transfer all the chips back into the other H5C1 & fit a new set into this one...then I can compare between the two.
If the original board is OK with the chips re-fitted then that should rule out the chips/pins - but not the sockets...
