I wanted to add a scanline effect to the 'doubler, since a lot of people want to recreate the authentic mid-80s feel when they look at their Atari screens. Having anticipated doing this, I put 2 jumpers on the board, with one being for the scanline effect, and one spare one. For the HDMI mod, it's a...
exxos called it yet again - it was a bad connection somewhere (in one of the RAMs, I'm fairly sure) Found when I set up monochrome mode again and discovered the problem solved. vidout14.jpg Now it's looking great again (albeit with only 2 bits for green until I fix that joint): vidout15.jpg My phon...
I spent a fair chunk of last year working in Canberra's ANU at the NCI facility rolling out the new Gadi super computer and de/recomissioning the old Raijin one. Six months slog in the NCI data centre still gives me nightmares. I'm constantly amazed at the projects you roll out, mate. Its like magi...
So the background of TransACT, for anyone who wasn't around, was that it was going to be this awesome, amazing city-wide LAN all running on fibre-optic cables and connection everyone to businesses and to each other on a high-speed link. Local traffic was going to be unmetered and thus free! This was...
Small world, Canberra is where I am! OK, so I put my previous hand-wired prototype back in the ST and it does not exhibit this gradient problem, which is good news. The difference between the boards is that the old prototype has the FPGA driving the RGB lines directly at 3.3v instead of going throug...
Right - I've got it working enough to install the ICD boot loader, and start using it. It's pretty cool to have it running. I had a couple of occurrences of a write error on sector 34 while copying files in the GEM desktop, but it didn't seem to corrupt the drive or the files... not sure what's so s...
Aha, I actually just fixed another bug (typical, right after posting) and now ICD Pro detects the size OK and begins the format process. Finally I can tick that off the list. Next, I have to implement some of the 10-byte SCSI commands that ICD needs.
Have you done the usual , just touch various places on the pins on every chip to see if anything changes. Fingers make great diagnostic tools  Sure did! But no change in the picture. I'm 90% of the way through building a second one, so if the problem is bad solder joints, hopefully the second ...
