Re: Should some old computer do all (same) as some new ?
Yes, I think that this is good description of main possible and common routes. In this years, when machines go very old, I think that partial route is what is and will be most popular. Just because first one - all original becomes hard and costing. Floppies, drives, monitors are main problem. "Uber"...

Re: A BIt of Advice Please
There is no Atari model, TOS version what can play all games. Actually situation is even absurd with some titles - will crash with 4 MB RAM for instance, while work fine with 512 KB RAM. But there is more of it what needs 1 MB RAM. Booster will make some games working better, but some will not like ...

Re: Hi from Ireland
Since it was not powered on for many years it is sure that electrolyte capacitors are very weak. Just don't turn it on before replacing most of them - in PSU in first place - because more damage can happen.

Re: Internal Gotek/FlashFloppy and external disk drive
Here is pretty much confusion caused by different pin layouts. Well visible on given link: http://old.pinouts.ru/HD/InternalDisk_pinout.shtml I recommend that if have ohmmeter follow signals from Atari PSG chip - Drive Sel A and Drive Sel B and connect Drive Sel A to Drive Sel B of Gotek - assuming ...

Re: Internal Gotek/FlashFloppy and external disk drive
SF314 is set as drive A, because it was first drive for older ST machines without internal drive. Need to change line what leads to drive select (as A) to drive B line at Atari floppy cable. That can do in drive or in Atari .

Re: Practical TT upgrade?
... F030 stuff could possibly be re-arranged or patched (PPera Im looking at you! ) and certainly new software could be made aware of the changes in address mapping, etc. (TOS 5.01 anyone? :D ) ... There is big difference between TT and Falcon: first has 32-bit data bus, second 16-bit. Th...

Re: Halt Catch Fire depicting computer industry Atari ST SE2
I watched first season and partially second one. Surely not realistic or historically accurate.
Atari ST was visible only once, for short, but main characters never shown using it. Most of it happened with C64 in first season.

Re: You have got to be kidding me - c64 on ebay
I think that reason for raising prices is need for components - custom chips in first place. That C64 was probably taken out from trash somewhere, but some chips may be OK. Of course if seller did not take them out already  I remember that was not easy to find C64 chips back in 80-es, when it w...

Re: Scrolling tricks
One thing is changing color in every line slightly - used usually for gradient sky , and other is using complete different palette for screen regions. Later is used a lot - top part with status has one palette, then middle part for actual play other one, and bottom can be with third palette too . Of...
