Re: V2.6 under design.

PCBs arrived today. Though I am having huge issues getting this board to do anything at all. I have been trying for the past several hours. Booster board when first built, it seems to work stable at 8mhz, and just seems to get worse to the point nothing works at all. At the moment I just have it wir...

Re: Gotek external or floppy (mech) external

Some interesting suggestions there .. your talk of the ground for example, the 14 pin cable would have had huge ground plane from the shielding You should use the sheiling as gnd also if you can. As you say, its a huge gnd area, so works well. on the power cable I just put a 4700uf between a ground...

Re: Gotek external or floppy (mech) external

It might be the old DMA type screwy issues as a side thought. Where the DMA databus needs some pull ups.. That's caused me issues with older drives on my ste machines. Similar circuit on mste. Or you might simply not have enough gnd wires from your external drive to the mste. Try at least 4 gnd wire...

Re: non-socketed CPU

As a side thought... Assuming you (or anyone) added a SMT socket for this plug in booster I am working on.. I wonder if the socket is the same size... What I mean is, on my MMU RAM expansion board, I plug the headers on the outside of the pin socket... http://www.exxoshost.co.uk/atari/last/4MBMMU/mm...

Re: Gotek external or floppy (mech) external

I don't know about other drives personally or if they even work as drive B:. The only drives I would use is the MPF920, as I know they work without any faffing about. You need to start ruling things out, and currently you have to many "unknowns", which makes it near impossible to diagnose anything. ...

Re: 32MHz for STEs without CPU socket

BR and BG tied to 5V on the booster and it still works stable, as far as I can tell. Did some runs with GB6, and everything was fine. Did the same with RESET and again, everything seems to be stable. So it seems, these signals aren't needed and can safely be bridged to VCC. :bravo: I did test the s...

Re: Gotek external or floppy (mech) external

Why not just use the proper machine diagram on the bottom right of page 1 ? http://dev-docs.exxoshost.co.uk/1040ST_Schematic_12-26-1987.pdf Wire the external drive is to 1.. Give external drive power and your done. If your using a 1.44 drive then you will need to for the cable upside down. I don't u...

Re: ST PSU NEW BATCH IN THE MAKING

24 PSU's tested.. Waiting on more capacitors and transformers.. hopefully be here mid next week. IMG_2004.JPG These are the last PSU's to be made of this design now. Why ? Because for one, these are a nightmare to assemble, and I am getting a bit tired of making them, and soldering in general. Not o...

Re: ST PSU NEW BATCH IN THE MAKING

Testing the switchmode sections out finally :) The large capacitors are out of stock, again  <rant> Farnell have become really rubbish lately :( It's bad enough that their site is seriously broken, and slow, and this week, even more broken. But even if I do manage to find the parts I want, the...
