Re: 1 step forward... 2 steps back...

So I am now the proud owner of an STE, pretending to be an STFM (until I swap the case badge.) Had to swap out the floppy drive too, although I suspect it just wants the heads re-aligned. Next is to have a go at blowing some new eproms, not sure which version of TOS was the best, any advice? Then th...

Re: 1 step forward... 2 steps back...

Claiming for damage in transit I think will be a waste of time and it was definitely packaged ok.

I am very happy that it still works and will likely use my STFM case to repair it. (STFM is my donor / component test comp)

Still annoying that it arrived in bits

1 step forward... 2 steps back...

So, today my latest purchase arrived in the post. A nice but faded 520 STe to play with whilst I take my time learning how to fix my Mega ST. Unboxed it to find that it looks like some Muppet at Parcel Farce ran over it with their truck. Sigh...... at least it works but looks like I need a new top h...

How did you get on with the composite mod? My 2600 jr doesn't like my LCD tv at all.

Re: STE V1.5 32MHz BOOSTER - STATUS

30 hours and a pig to find, especially how that CPU is mounted to the board i bet.

I work in hot boiler houses and component failure due to heat is a big thing for me.

You'll sort it I'm sure....

(Unlike me and the Mega, having a break, lol)

Re: STE V1.5 32MHz BOOSTER - STATUS

Just a random suggestion.

Is it possible that the board is warping underneath the cpu after it's been on load and warmed up? thus breaking some of the contacts onto the socket on the MB.?

Re: FOR SALE. maybe

You're probably 2 hours from me in South Midlands and in reality I'd only really be interested in the STe regardless of whether it works or not. Got lots of other ST bits here and two broken ST's i'm in the process of fixing, so someone else would probably benefit from the games, HD, FD etc, rather ...
