Most worthwhile stfm mods?

I'm in the middle of completing the original scope of my 520 stfm restoration and upgrade work. At the end of this, it will be a 520 STFM with 4mb of RAM and a gotek drive. I'm pretty certain my next purchase after that will be a v1.5 accelerator and a fast TOS upgrade. But beyond that, is there any...

Re: STFM 4MB SIMM ADAPTER KIT INSTALL BLOG

I'm halfway through and have managed to get 8 out so far - hopefully they all still work :) Because my motherboard is a 520 st, I need to put resistors in r71-73. I understand they're supposed to be 68r, but I only have 47 and 120. Will either of those do the job or shall I order myself a few 68s. T...

Thanks Chris that's really useful. I don't own any side cutters but it looks like I probably should!

STFM 4MB SIMM ADAPTER KIT INSTALL BLOG

I have just received my 4meg ram upgrade from Chris. I decided to go with this one as I like how neat it is once installed. https://www.exxoshost.co.uk/atari/last/storenew/#0020 I'm working from home today, so at lunchtime I decided to start desoldering the existing ram chips from the motherboard: 2...

Agree re: chip tunes. That Petari version of Xenon 2 looks awesome - I'm not familiar with their work. Assume it's ste?

Re: Hi from Northamptonshire

It's quite interesting to run certain Amiga and ST games side by side and see how the programmers made changes to the game to accommodate the lack of custom hardware in the ST compared to the Amiga. When done well on games like Turrican 2 and Blood Money, both versions are very good in their own rig...

Re: My retro computer blog

I've just updated the blog with an idea for how I'm going to install my gotek in the case. Not sure if it's been done on an ST before...

Will post how it goes both in the blog and on here when I have the parts.

By the way, how do I embed images in a post on here?

Re: Hi from Northamptonshire

I know what you mean with the Amiga cost. A1200s seem to fetch ridiculous amounts. I just kept an eye out for a 'non working' a500 and never bid very high. Got lucky eventually. I'm finding the same thing with STs though - sometimes they fetch silly money and other times they're fairly reasonably pr...

Don't know if it's ok to post a link to my blog here detailing my work on the ST, apologies if not:

Hi from Northamptonshire

Hi all My name's Pete and I'm living in Northamptonshire, originally from Brentwood, Essex (home of TOWIE but don't hold that against me!) I'm old enough to have owned an ST when they were new. It was the first 16 bit computer I owned having gone through an Atari 800xl, Commodore 64 and finally a Sp...
