Re: dry solder joint repair question

Normally i remove the solder with solder braid and use fresh lead solder to solder the new part. That should be no problem at all. If you had any battery or capacitor leaks the old solder itself could be affected. The solder will not melt at all and i even had to drill out some holes with a PCB dril...

Re: Atari TT's LM7905CT getting too hot

After carefully checking all the voltages under load, a voltage meter with high/low setting would be interesting.
(to check if there is a dip)
That would at least prove it is a voltage related issue and where to focus your efforts.

Re: For Sale: 27C400 EPROM emulators (beta) issue D

Could you send me 2 units with everything soldered except the USB headers?
And could you flash the newest firmware?

There's no rush, so if you want to add some more functionality to the firmware I would gladly wait a bit longer. ;)

I would like to pay with PayPal and I live in NL.

Deoxit, Electrolube and flux

On the bench there is a battered, oxidised and slightly rusted (the cover was rusted) motherboard. As far as I can see there is no battery acid damage, but it looks bad at the moment. But i'm up for the challenge and hopefully i will at least get a good donor board out of it. The bad sockets...

Re: For Sale: 27C400 EPROM emulators (beta) issue D

What will the difference be between the current Beta units that are sold and a final version?

Thanks in advance for your work, I was looking for something like this.

Re: Do you think they went a bit skimpy on the solder?

Easy to replace, not a difficult part to get a replacement for…
And you do not even need to desolder it as it has almost no solder :-)
Win!

Re: Very old STM restoration project

It mostly happens in old PSU's and monitors but it can't hurt to check on this MB. It looks exactly like the conductive glue i pulled out an old monitor a few months ago, that was a difficult one to solve. The multimeter should be on the most sensitive setting, If you press the pins of your multimet...
