Re: Degraded video quality with 1040 STF (C070523-001 REV.D)

I'm thinking of making the CO70789-001 REV. C1 my favourite motherboard, since it has the best features: The CO70789 type are my favorite styles. Versions without the modulator (STF) are same board, even ones with SMT DRAM, basically same board. So really any similar style board of the CO70789 shou...

RAM Boards

FYI I have received two RAM boards kindly donated by Stuart Duncan from Australia. One is populated, one is not. I already have one myself, so these will be made available to project people who need them. If you're part of the project, can you please add your name on here and state if you have a RAM...

Re: PCB Build - Progress - Post your Pics here :-)

One last thing I noticed, the reset switch pins are fine, but the metal can has no holes for its tabs. No biggie again, just something to consider for the next iteration. Yeah, no template for the switch :(, had to use just 3 holes for it. Probably be a lot of things like that, its the case of, if ...

Re: PCB Build - Progress - Post your Pics here :-)

Well here's mine so far, but as yet no soldering done, as I'm just checking everything off as it comes from the donor board: Progress.jpg There's a couple of issues I've hit so far in testing out component fit. First is the keyboard connector, and I'm assuming that J12 on the remake board is the sam...

Re: Ordering the Alpha board

Well I am shipping sockets for them all anyway. Problem is, if a chip gets red hot , then unsoldering it will be a pain.. also if something is wrong somewhere, might need leg bending, track cutting etc... Soldering direct is best for sure, but not a good idea on a test board.. Cool, sockets it is t...

Re: Ordering the Alpha board

Mine's arrived too, just need time to strip the donor board now. Wondering what peoples thoughts are re fitting of the DIL packaged chips? I was going to use a socket for pretty much everything as it makes it easier to recover later if things go south (I'm sure they won't), but soldering directly wo...
