Re: STE V1.5 32MHz BOOSTER - STATUS

Damn, not an awful lot of good news then :( Could the CPU be heat damaged from the solder oven?

I could see it being a PCB issue, after all there were issues with the ROM switchers weren't there?

Such a shame if you can't get it going, but as ever your efforts are appreciated :)

Re: 2600 Composite mod

Ok, not much time tonight due to PSU rebuilds, but I made a start! CompMOD.jpg Given the chip is about 5mm square, I'm quite pleased with the soldering results, considering it was done by hand with an iron! Looks like good connections under a magnifying glass so I'm hopeful it'll be good when I get ...

Re: STE V1.5 32MHz BOOSTER - STATUS

From previous tests no.. But that could have been bad soldering.. I will re-test later. I'd be interested in the results. I don't think its a thermal problem now.. 15mins at 38MHz and 15mins at 25MHz.. doesn't add up. Running slower should give it more runtime if even 10mins. Unless these CPU's sim...

Re: 2600 Composite mod

Ok, so the FMS6146-Ds have just arrived from UTSOURCE, worked out about 91p a chip, I have 10 now :)

Still waiting on the MAX7453s to arrive, they are due on Monday earliest unless the seller is telling porkies!

Re: STE V1.5 32MHz BOOSTER - STATUS

So do they run fine at 8Mhz? I know that isn't the plan, being a booster and all, but it might mean that the issue is either frequency or heat related if 8Mhz runs fine. You could perhaps rule out heating by having a fan blow a constant flow of cool air over the CPU, plus a small stick on heat sink ...

So this one worked first time.. see how it goes.. got the new firmware in it...

It it seems OK, will sell it cheaper for someone to beta test it ;) Will have a second one when I get more bits..
As usual, I would be very interested in beta testing. :)

Re: no-software internal RTC

Since I last responded on this thread I've become the proud owner of an IKBD clock board. It needs a bit of a clean up, but it would probably be a fun project for me to reverse engineer and document. I might even be able to make it a bit smaller than it currently is, which is about 1.5x the length o...

Re: List of planned upgrades.. Plus recasing....

I can recommend the Dual TOS switcher upgrades, as I have two of them :) However, you will need to be adept at soldering to assemble the kit, so bear that in mind. As for the 1.44Mb kit, there is a good amount of soldering work here too, and also the removal of the floppy controller chip from the ma...
