Re: TT Rom access speedup

Hello, The how and why is very simple. 8-) Once you know it. Back in the days that the TT was designed, the Eproms where quite expensive and not so fast. 200nS or less. Also, Atari may have anticipated using Mask-Roms. Those were kind of slow also. To still use the slower devices, wait states were ...

Re: TT Rom access speedup

This is very interesting and I'd like to hear a TLDR on how this makes this possible. Any downsides? Sounds simple enough, why/how would Atari not utilize this themselves? Not questioning or anything and am looking forward to trying it out. Well, it takes RAM, which in an unexpanded TT is in short ...

Re: Which 1040 STF is this?

Being an STF, it's missing the modulator circuitry intentionally. Otherwise it would be an STFM. You can still get video out from the 13-pin DIN connector. The modulator involves more than the few apparent components. I wouldn't bother with that in this day and age anyway. Thanks, I was not talking...

Re: Viking board on Mega,ST

From DOIT_ST: The viking card is made by Atari for the SM194 (ECL 19' screen) with DB9 connector. It plugs in the 68K MegaBus and uses a driver sm194drv in 1280*960*monochrome, NVDI can be used with it (NVDI4, version 5 not tested). The empty socket is for 68881 FPU. I would guess the same ECL to VG...
