Re: TF536 - Atari firmware - Rev2 TF536
I have no idea how it'd know what's changed and not! Getting into too advanced techniques for me there ;) I wasn't thinking of anything fancy, just brute force compare against the destination (because of L2) on copy and hoping that the total overhead of testing is less than the cost of writing :) I...

Re: TF536 - Atari firmware - Rev2 TF536
So the IRQ is when you decide the transfer is finished and start probing for the endpoint and then trigger the copy? Yep, vector $11C. The operating system does everything by polling so that interrupt is normally unallocated. It has to identify and filter out false triggers from non-DMA devices wir...

"50MHz DFB1 Falcon + 33MB/s AltRAM @50Hz RGB mode: ~4160 frames."
I suspect I'm going to need to somehow up the ST-RAM write speeds to beat it though..
Casually building up courage for that Stefan 16mhz bus mod

Re: TF536 - Atari firmware - Rev2 TF536
Woo! Excellent stuff + speedy as, too. I'm both happy and surprised it actually worked! Intercepting writes to the DMA registers and then bulk copying anything you think might have been changed by it? Yep exactly that! I basically just bulk copy the DMA'ed data into the shadow on end-of-DMA. ...

Re: TF536 - Atari firmware - Rev2 TF536
Inspired by discussions and ideas from exxos we're now/soon(tm) able to do this: (I apologise for my poor camera work  ) https://youtu.be/qFDj1bPQNQM L2 cache for ST-RAM is active and DMA is working(*) thanks to an unholy alliance of hardware assisted software hacks :) (*) Very much experimenta...

Re: ST536 assembled interests
I'd be up for one. I think birdseed version would be fine. I have some version of an ST Edition here but it's really quite old and I don't think it's compatible with any proper firmware? Rev3 ? The rev5 isn't that far different than r3 other than the IDE won't work on the r3. I haven't tried ...
