Re: PhilCs blog / the latest things hes broken(fixed)

@PhilC Do you have a write-up on using the BluesSCSI boards with Ataris or Amigas?

I'm considering options for networking some of my retro machines but need the cart port free for dongles...

Re: A500 oddities & upgrade suggestions

Well that's a good afternoon of diagnosing in my books then :) Indeed! All while the laptop tries to kill it's SSD by building lots of intermediate artifacts before the final binaries are ready... Next step is to pull the KBD apart, see whats what. That might be after I've plugged a Gotek into it &...

Re: A500 oddities & upgrade suggestions

Boots OK with the keyboard from the "working" A500 (well, had time at lunch to just disassemble the working A500 & move the keyboard across and try one boot with it)... Later I'll try the suspect keyboard in the "working" system... Oooh, good stuff. Booting issue moves with ...

Re: A500 oddities & upgrade suggestions

And the second board is another B52 Rock Lobster...doing a major rebuild of the embedded s/w for one of our products gave me just enough time to make a cuppa & remove the top metalwork & reveal the work of art beneath...

Now where did I put those Gotek drives...?

Well, thanks for those names - gives me a bit more to research about! :)

Re: A500 oddities & upgrade suggestions

A500s are pretty bullet proof. Old style caps and just a few socketed chips that might need pulling out and pushing in again. Red LED shows that it is an early A500, PCB Rev probably lower than Rev 6. Amiga Test Kit is really useful: https://github.com/keirf/Amiga-Stuff/releases I wonder if your ke...

Re: A500 oddities & upgrade suggestions

Since it boots without the keyboard, and with the keyboard touching ground, it may be worth buzzing out the keyboard cable to see if any of the wires are broken. Good idea - I'll have to find some schematics/cable wiring details but they'll come in handy when I finally look at the other faulty Amig...

Re: A500 oddities & upgrade suggestions

Can the second one boot without the keyboard connected? It should be able to. ... Edit: Yes, boots fine without the keyboard - so is there possibly a fault with the keyboard or an intermittent fault somewhere else? stephen_usher Is there a good guide on the Amiga h/w that you can point me towards? ...
