Re: Reverse Engineering the Macintosh SE PCB & Custom Chips for 1:1 reproduction
rubber_jonnie Actually, funny you should mention the classic... R8n1l47.jpg fjzymlE.jpg I got a little bored waiting for parts for the SE project :D Acill well, i discovered that on the PDS connector, /AS and A8 were bridged, so i've corrected that - but i'm seeing now that i'm stuck in a RESET loo...

Re: Mac Classic - will it ever run again!!
VGA? No. TTL? Yes - it's quite simple. The thing is, the internal CRT is a custom resolution - there's a 640x480 mod for the classic's but its very very awkward. You might have better luck running the logic board off a separate PSU for the meantime - i just built one out of a meanwell RT65 - has all...

Re: Mac Classic - will it ever run again!!
Oh hi! What you're experiencing is exactly what i'm dealing with on the Macintosh SE Reloaded project. What you're seeing on the screen is the checkerboard, but with the contents of RAM being directly displayed - hence the distortion/odd dots all over the screen. Thing is, the Classic, is just a cos...

Re: TF for 68k Macintosh?
Been working on this myself. Plenty of accelerator cards made for these classic macs over the years - including 68030 ones. The MicroMac cards were huge, too. CPU isn't socketed though, it's soldered. However the SE has an expansion slot that can be used. Not out of the realm of possibility, basical...

For the IS900 - replace with this: https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/optocoupler-ics/1718172/
direct pin compatible part, from the same manufacturer.

Re: Fake TF536s Bounty (Bound Edition)
They are called, IIRC from my days of repairing cars, Pattern Parts. It means that consumers have a choice to buy OEM parts at a price premium, or opt for 3rd party parts that are cheaper, but may not meet the same standards of quality demanded by the OEM. They fit, they will work, and they are che...

Re: Reverse Engineering the Macintosh SE PCB & Custom Chips for 1:1 reproduction
To be fair - i'm not a professional by any means - just an enthusiastic hobbyist! I'm looking forward to the day when i turn on the SE and hear 'BOOOOP' followed by the '?' prompt flashing away. I had a few other ideas, such as doing something similar to the Classic ROM - where you have System 6.0.8...

Re: Reverse Engineering the Macintosh SE PCB & Custom Chips for 1:1 reproduction
So with them looking that good, i threw myself into it, and after 14 hours, this was the end result: DSC_0173.JPG DSC_0174.JPG Yes, my eyes went funny, and my fingers hurt and were calloused by the end of the day. I don't think i'd slept that night, thinking about it like a kid at christmas  Da...
