ULTOFORMAT FORMATTER

Another yester-year program by myself. Simple formatter program. Plays some ampled sound music at the start (that was all the rage back then!) Uses Trap calls in STOS.

Re: SUGGESTIONS

Typo, meant 1 byte per pixel.. I corrected it. we would have from 8mhz to 16mhz to 32mhz, to 48mhz.. so 6x more bandwidth easily. Design aim is 50mhz. But thats mostly CPU limit.. FPGA MMU to FPGA shifter may even get 100mhz speeds.. So 12x rate could be possible if all logic is fast enough (probabl...

Re: SUGGESTIONS

Chunky with palette makes best sense I think. I guess 1 bytes per pixel for 256 colour palette. so 16bit packet equates to 2 pixels like $1122.. 16bit "true colour" would need a lot of bandwidth power, or as said earlier, would need a frame buffer to allow "slow frames" to be drawn.. may only be use...

Re: SUGGESTIONS

Also thinking way to ahead again.. If a super shifter could actually use a frame buffer, then the "shifter/MMU" could just update the buffer rather than the whole frame each time.. One example is addressable frame manipulation.. that if you only wanted to update a few lines on screen, you could just...

Re: SUGGESTIONS

Hopefully Smonson can add chunky into there as well... I assume it would be easier than doing palette based lookups, just pretty much data in to data out.. Think I did wonder about the "format" of this a few months ago... it would be best usage of 16bit data... Can't remember exactly.. 8bits per pix...

Re: Seen on eBay: UK TT Keyboard: Offers.

now has a wife, children, beer belly, house, spare bedroom, and a good job. I have none of those :) Ten years ago a 520ST was £15. Look what they go for now. But as someone who actually uses Atari as a computer and not an investment, a terrible time. I hate price bubbles. Yeah its gone silly for su...

SPRITE PATH CREATOR UTIL

MOVE.png I don't even remember coding this.. Though I know I was always lookin for ways to move sprites in interesting ways. So I created this Util.. Assume in early 90s. Basically you "draw" the path for a sprite to follow and the screen and it saves it to a memory bank, where the sprite then foll...
