All right, have some Schmitt buffers left from previous projects, will try this out, just need to figure out where can i cut that track...

CPLDs are known good from DigiKey, MB is freshly recapped,
TF1260 works great on it....
will try to use some EPROMs, maybe this helps

Built two, just to be sure, both behave identically..

..Data bus is buffered at the BUS CPLD on the TF1260. Its not on the TF1230. Long ide cables need buffers really. the lengths can cause reflections over the data bus etc. I'm confident if you add a buffer it will work. There is buffered ide for long cables on A600/a1200 IMG_20210921_220855_588.jpg ...
