Re: EMUTos + AltRAM

As far as the TT-RAM question is concerned, I can confirm (personally from my TT) that EmuTOS runs fine with 256 MiB TT-RAM. Therefore, I like to rule out any general issue with EmuTOS. This must be a problem specific to the PiStorm; which I have no experience with. For the "fake" 68000 wi...

Re: Removing SCART detect limiting resistor?

The Peritelevision standard (EN 50049-1:1998) specifies that the source resistance of that signal shall be between 300 ohms and 1000 ohms. Atari has 1.2 kohms. Maybe they wanted to make it extra safe, maybe older standard allowed for a higher resistance. In any case, the standard mandates a limited ...

Re: Logic analyser recommendations ?

Get both. :D I find that scopes and logic analyzers solve distinct measurement tasks. I would not want to miss either my 4-channel scope (Rigol), nor my Saleae logic analyzer. Let's face it: If you're looking for logic analysis (e.g., protocol decoding or very long captures), a scope is just a poor ...

The pins are used in the MegaSTE, which has the same GSTMCU.

Re: ATARI STE TwiSTEr

No, sorry. Do you mean the socket on the motherboard or on the TwiSTEr? I’ve seen several successfully closed STEs with installed TwiSTEr; but I have no idea regarding the brands of the sockets. PS: I cannot follow every forum thread and might therefore miss questions. So, if you require assistance,...

Correct. Hence one can say: yes, Smartswap is supported by HDDRIVER.

Cyprian wrote: Wed Mar 22, 2023 2:45 pm nice addon,
whats is a difference between that and a twisted cable?
As I wrote. Smartswap only swaps the data bytes, in contrast to a twisted cable that swaps everything and hence needs a specific driver.

Re: Physically byte-swapped IDE [AKA twisted cable]

Fwiw, I once made a prototype of a standalone adapter that adds the Smartswap* feature to any Atari. However interest was too little to make a Falcon (i.e. 44-pin) version. :( https://forum.atari-home.de/index.php/topic,15740.msg247565.html#msg247565 * Smartswap -- known from our Thunder and Lightni...
