Re: OSI 600D Superboard Build

Can you get the machine to run fully other with the pin lifted? i.e. with everything else in place does it start up?

Re: General Stuff(tm)

Seeing as I'm waiting for parts for the LC III I've got the second Kaypro back on the bench. Opened the top and connected a Gotek to the floppy interface header and turned on... No boot. It says that it can't read the disk. "Ejecting" the virtual disk does as it should have wait until the ...

Re: OSI 600D Superboard Build

At least assuming I should see 60Hz for HSYNC and 15.63Khz for VSYNC. I need to check the datasheet for the 123 and verify what it should be doing based on the components around it. Surely that should be the other way around? VSYNC should be slower, once every frame, but HSYNC faster as it's every ...

Re: OSI 600D Superboard Build

So, without that chip you see random characters but with it the scan lines are partly blanked. Strange. What is U61?

Re: LOLPRICE

As suggested elsewhere, the seller may have entered the manufacture date into the price field with some extra zeros by mistake and couldn't change it.

Re: LOLPRICE

Just 'cos the plastic bags haven't been opened doesn't make it collectable... Even if it were it's well over an order of magnitude too high a price. :-)

Re: LC III - Will it ever run?

System 7.1 and later came with an extension allowing you to read and write PC floppies. So just stick the SIT or HQX archive on the floppy and copy it across.

The biggest problem is bootstrapping StuffIt Expander without StuffIt Expander to extract the archive.

Re: Atari Falcon : all new user and... not really all new problems I think ;-)

Welcome Fabrice. Well, the hard drive spinning up and down is a known problem. The synthetic rubber bumper for the heads turns to goo and sticks the heads so thay can't move. Not a lot can be done about that without completely dismantling the drive and removing the rubber. Replacing with an IDE-CF o...

Re: LC III - Will it ever run?

BlueSCSI v2 and 68882 ordered. Up the disk cache to 7MB and even with a ZIP100 drive the machine is pretty decent even with 16 bit colour. Even after running Pagemaker 3, Nisus Write, Canvas DA, Microsoft Word V5 and Speedometer I was only using half of the 12MB left over after the disk cache. The &...
