I'm running both an internal floppy as well as an internal HxC off the single cable in my STE. DS0/DS1 (wires 10 and 12) and a single MOTOR ON works just fine.

Re: Icky - Progress

Yeah I'd put 150 Ohm on each of the RGB lines if it's that bright. my reason for asking if the flash happened on another screen is that very few things in an ST could cause that, while a modern flat screen can do anything it likes when it detects the slightest disturbance in the signal :) So the &qu...

Re: Icky - Progress

That's one very strange flash. Let's see what it looks like on another monitor.

Code: Select all

DMA Port Test

D0 DMA time-out
Fail at cycle:000001
Well many of those tests require a test harness connected to the ports that route signals back.

Re: New video connector ?

If we can enable Hi res in desktop menu, @Troed can correct me if I’m wrong, but as I remember it (with MoCo) it’s not possible to do this if any GEM functions (for instance file dialogue) are called since (and I’m pretty much making up words as I go in lack of knowledge) one can’t reinitialize som...

Re: Icky - Progress

FWIW the screen glitches look like timing's off between MMU and Shifter, or just between Shifter and RAM. Not sure that affects anything else.

Re: New video connector ?

You mean wiring the RGB to mono directly ? It couldn't be done without a mux, and a mux needs A/B select. You can't multiplex MONO onto the RGB, as if mono is high or low all the RGB drivers would follow that signal. Right, haven't spent too much time into what's high and low. Op-amps (summing adde...

Re: New video connector ?

The MUXes need to be analog MUXes for the RGB .... unless you're muxing the shifter output to the resistor ladder. I hadn't even thought about doing it digital. That might be really easy. (The Shifter revision with analogue output is depicted on schematics but no one has ever been found in the wild...

Re: New video connector ?

Mux are easy enough. Really just 2 buffers in parallel, just enable one or the other set of buffers. RGB on one set of inputs, MONO on all RGB inputs on the second buffer. I think its basically what the UBE does. Well my point is to not enabling one or the other, but both. I.e, with a compatible sc...
