Re: Not Atari, but definitely 8bit (ZX81)

I had it back in 1983. Bought as kit, and assembling took about half hour. If I remember correct, only some 5 ICs :D
Z80, ROM, 1KB RAM and ULA + power regulator.

Re: MEGA STE and graphics cards

Isn't the new graphic modes what is interesting in case of this graphics cards for Ataris ? ET4000 should know true true color (16M), if I'm not wrong.
What will be for sure slow, but looks nice.

Re: A1200/Falcon comparison

And again, total shallow conclusion by KyleB. If GB6 can run on Atari ST with 512KB RAM why it should not run on Falcon with 1 MB RAM ? There is more free RAM. With same speed as 14 MB Falcon. And of course, who will run it at 8 MHz - except cases when it is too fast with 16 MHz (some games) . Addit...

Re: A1200/Falcon comparison

In Germany there were no 1MB Falcons for sale, at least I did not see any in shops or adverts. 200 $ price diff for 3 MB seems too much (would be some 660 DEM for 1993). In those years RAM was not so expensive, at least not most time - surely there were sometimes some price booms, as usual. But my c...

Re: A1200/Falcon pissing contest

Yeah, thread title is really not OK. And I'm pissed because of people writing things without checking it first. Falcon with 1MB RAM ? No, there was no such. "I could also say that a 1MB Falcon is the slowest computer ever made" - no, it would be slowest one if could attach Satandisk to it, but sadly...

Internal scan doubler idea

I spotted on this today: http://atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=34108 Indeed interesting, although I wouldn't say that it is secret mode, rather is side effect of not harmonized HW registers in ST. So, possible to have 160x400 px in 16 colors, 320x400 in 4 colors, and even 1280x200 in monochrom...

Re: Falcon 030 vs STE

NVDI does not turn blitter off. It 'turn off'' complete VDI code of TOS - or better said just use it not at all .

Re: Falcon 030 vs STE

Not good idea to judge CPU speed by tests which mostly use blitter. I tried to make Falcon tests without blitter, but it seems impossible. XBIOS 64 will ret 1 for blitter on always, even after off command. Probably there is no pure CPU code for VDI at all in Falcon TOS. So, I tried test with CPU at ...

I had contact with many UltraSatan users and 99% is very satisfied. Problems were with crap SD cards - bought online usually, and inproper PSU.

Re: MSTE vs STE TOS206

You probably thinking of this thread ? https://www.exxoshost.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=45&p=3956#p3956 I mention VDI is slower in TOS206 than TOS104. With blitter on only, to be precise. And not only VDI is what is little slower. Vblank takes more time in 2.06 . Someone should do concrete bli...
