Re: TOS after 32 years - what could be done better ?

Well, nice long list :D Thank you for it, but really should not spend so much time with it. 1-2 would be enough. This basically confirms what I think: official Atari docs are not detailed enough. Programmers were often in situation to figure out solutions self. So was it with usage of VDI - some sol...

Re: TOS after 32 years - what could be done better ?

You just need to use Open Workstation (VDI 1) instead Open Virtual Workstation (VDI 100) in case of AUTO folder.
Now, how I know it ? Not because some DOC, I experienced it out.
So arf, pls. tell us in which doc it is described, and from which year it is.

Re: TOS after 32 years - what could be done better ?

TOS is clearly divided into 2 parts: 1 - HW initialization (like RAM test ++), BIOS, XBIOS, GEMDOS and even VDI, Line-A calls, mouse, then basic font, VT52 emulator are in first part. About 90KB , 2 - AES (GEM) and Desktop . That may be surprise by self for some (was for me too. when I realized it),...

TOS mods for more free RAM

I made some special modded (patched) TOS versions, intended mostly for users with floppies, HW floppy emulators, or those using emulators on PC, MAC ... Background: AUTO folder SW is normally SW not using AES (GEM), and despite it, it must have extension PRG - like SW using GEM. Better would be that...

Re: Diagnosis kit for Atari ST/STE/TT/Falcon (TT version patched)

yo napot Petari I'm not sure about these SW burnt on the EPROM as companies doesn't exist anymore. ;) Bonjour francouai :D I meant that man who sells it may be who wrote parts of this cartridge SW. Indeed, there are no companies anymore, but it is usual to not pirate Atari SW what is currently unde...

Re: Diagnosis kit for Atari ST/STE/TT/Falcon (TT version patched)

Sounds great. Price is as usual on E-Bay - high. Maybe seller calculated his time spent on writing SW. It is not problem to make PCB for cartridge. And will be cheaper with 2 8-bit EPROMs, even cheaper with 2 Flash EPROMs. Considering 'Eprom SW' - I will not go in how to get it.

Re: V2.5 BOOSTER CURRENT PROTOTYPE STATUS

Something is not clear for me here. 68HC000 CPU is stated as cycle identical with 68000. How then it can do VDI operations with more than 400% speed ? (at 32 MHz CPU clock) . Especially considering that RAM access is still 100% speed. Is it because blitter is enabled ? Maybe to compare with blitter ...

Re: Test/Demo SW for 50-60 Hz framerate conversion

STV50_75.ZIP This little program is for demonstrating how Atari ST's 50 Hz (PAL) video would look on some LCD monitor set to 75 Hz refresh rate. 75 Hz should be available on most of modern LCD monitors - in lower resolutions - and we don't need some high ones for ST video. This is for running in em...

Re: Video output considerations

Looked little more that Chrontel CH7033 (not 70300) . It seems that it has all we need. Separated clock input for source video, framerate conversion, analog + DVI output, so probably good for HDMI too. But to make it work, you need to program it - or in other words - to set it in desired mode, what ...
